*** Battlefield 1 ***

Because they just can't leave things alone and it's damned annoying.

Its funny just how much their games change from release to a year later, the tank "emergency" repair annoyed me, went from a 20-25% or so repair down to 10%, in lots of instances that not even enough to take 1 more hit. But thats all due to the "tanks are op" whinge brigade who havn't noticed that tanks are easy pickings with the ludicrous amount of anti armour weaponry available.

It seems as though the community whinge enough about an element they don't like or think is unfair because they can't play the game exactly how they want with the tactics they want and DICE will patch. Which is funny as DICE pride themselves on having an Alpha and Beta testing community before originally released and then along came a wave of changes.... Nice one. Where's my other god damn gas grenade damn it?! (/Hypocrisy)

Remember when games were completed before release and had maybe a couple of patches which usually for compatibility? Ah, halcyon days.
BF1 is no different to these early access games people buy into on Steam.

Game devs mentality has been "ship it now, finish it later" for years now :( Dice screwed up in the so called beta by not having AT weapons unlocked so the tanks were much harder to take down, think it was only in the last few day of testing some of the at weaponry was available.

For a while snipers could have 2 trip bombs then that got changed back to 1, been a load of other changes like the AA being nerfed, then brought back to close to where it was originally as the nerfed aa meant bombers were laying some pipe to ground troops with ease.

Regarding the CU breaking stuff with Nvidia GPU's I read that some people where having some success doing a clean install of the CU rather than applying the CU as an update.

At the moment.... the game is not really playable (some maps) I literally turn it off when those maps role round.

Are you guys running the CU?

I had no problems with my 970 and the CU.

Putting aside the current server problems in EU for BF1 which is causing all kinds of lag / choppy game play at times, BF1 runs fine for me with no other issues.

It looks like this is something EA is aware of and is related to the update coming tomorrow, so hopefully will be gone after that.

I really don't think they do think like that. DICE are a development team (or groups of development teams) working for EA. EA's marketing team decide when a product is going to release not the development teams. The finance team set the budget. The development teams will do their best to produce the best they can given resources and time. Sure DICE get some things wrong, not just straight bugs but balance issues too, and they do their best to fix them with the resource they have.

A marketing team have to be given estimates of when the game can be delivered though and those come from the devs, its not like they can slap a random date on a game release 2 days into development without consulting with them first. And the date from the devs is probably the minimum amount of time they need to make the game.

These days games are all about rolling out as much as you can as fast as you can, and ever since dlc factored in companies like ea are making more money than ever before. Also factor in that digital downloads for pc probably means that they only have to produce a small amount of pc centric physical copies for people that want a disc is even more cost saving.

Dlc, kit shortcuts, premium pass, etc, always about charging more for games that get rushed out of the door while cranking up the price of the base game, and its not unusual to have multi gig "updates" on day one or shortly after. I love how they moved away from calling the updates "patches", as the word patches implies there's problems that need fixed. We all know what the updates are but from a marketing pov it seems to be a word they try to avoid.

Personally I'd much rather be playing and have a chance to contributing to the balance discussion than just being told 'this is what it is, tough luck' which is what some people seem to be advocating?

Find me a single game where absolutely everyone is in agreement that balance is perfect - doesn't exist, so how can they possibly get it right first time?

I think its more down to the game being out virtually a year already and the update from cte is going to make some weapons behave very differently. A few months in then yeah, but after a year practically? Seems a bit late.
