Here is my permanent solution/set it and forget it workaround for the creators memory issues (particularly with Frostbite games). Performance degrades significantly when free memory runs out. This is an automatic way of clearing the standby cache silently and 100% fixes all my stutter issues, especially in Frosbite games - and keeps it running smooth for indefinitely.

  1. Download EmptyStandbyList and put it somewhere where you won't move it https://wj32.org/wp/software/empty-standby-list/
  2. Right click > Properties and select Run as Admin under compatibility.
  3. Open Task Scheduler > Create Task on the far right
  4. General Tab (give it a name). Under security options > Change user or group > Advanced > Find Now > go down and choose SYSTEM (important to make it run silently in the background). Tick 'Run with highest privileges' and 'Hidden' at the bottom. Pictures here https://stackoverflow.com/questions...ndows-scheduled-task-to-run-in-the-background
  5. Triggers tab > New > On a schedule > One Time. Tick repeat task every 5 minutes (possibly excessive but it causes no issues).
  6. Actions tab > Start A program > Point to the EmptyStandbyList.exe file.
  7. Done! Standby memory is automatically cleared every 5mins and BF1 especially will run smooth for hours!
Can confirm this really helped me when I was experiencing issues in BF1 earlier this year - only started after the creators' update I think.

Yep this seems to have sorted it! Thanks a bunch.

And as mentioned above the servers are down. Has been intermittent for hours whether it works or not and now not at all.

ive gotta say whether it was the windows update or the small update to bf1 it's now much smoother for me. i was getting awful cpu spikes that have now gone/completely within acceptable tolerance. i thought it was my new (2nd hand) titan pascal, i'm feeling pretty relieved i can tell you.

I get the odd hitch now and again as well, not sure if its down to cpu spikes or possibly the clocks on the gpu changing causing it.

There was definitely something going on when I got my new card. I run the graph in game and my new Titan pascal was less smooth than my old 980ti. Booted it up tonight updated windows and bf1 and very smooth. I turned gsync off at first thinking it might be that but it turns out everything is working as it should. Might see if I can get my 3930k to 4.7 for a little boost...

Well it's been fun really good fun, sunk a good few 100 s of hours into this game, a lot of people seem unhappy with the game, for me I grinded on and got the work done was hit and miss over the years with the team work but oh well can't blame the game for that. Graphics was awesome and played lovely at 4k with nearly everything on ultra with a 980ti .

Got to top rank and had a few recent good games but I think it's time to move on.

I am signing out of duty soldiers only to return in bfv

Hoooooha

We tend to blame our set ups a lot for the games of today, but in all honesty it's down to the game developers and the graphics drivers in 99 percent of the cases, I too was getting troubles on and off through the years .

But like you say it all seems to just disappear ;);)

Does anyone still play ? are servers still popular I played BFV and found it was major step backwards, the map design i awful its like a different developer made the maps.

Co-indecently I re-installed this today. I was quickmatched into a Springfield bolt action only match, never happened before but it was quite cool. However it ended up with us controlling all sectors and pinning down the entire team off the edge of the map. Score 1000 vs 110. The next game, there was a hacker who was not even trying to hide it, instant headshots with any weapon at any range with one bullet, 50 kils 0 deaths, could change which team controlled control points on the fly...

Not that impressed. I think I'll download BF4 now which I got for free at somepoint but never really played.

I've just installed BF1 to play as it was cheap. I've noticed that the settings had my FPS capped at 60fps so unselected that which saw them shoot up a good deal more but so did my CPU temps to mid 80's. My GPU was just ticking over though at a temp of 58 deg. This was all on a laptop running 1080p ultra settings. CPU i7-7700hw and GPU 1070 8GB. Is this game just more CPU hungry or is there some settings I should be changing?

It's just a CPU hungry game, your CPU will be maxed out by it with just 4 cores 8 thread.

Out of interest, roughly what kind of FPS did you get when you uncapped the frame rate?
