Right i've started playing bf2 again after a break of 5 months or so..is it me or have they made the planes harder to kill? it seems that a good pilot can just fly around and own everyone and they can do nothing about it.
The AA guns are under powered and the range is too short on them you can sit in one lock on to a plane hit it with 2 missles and while your waiting for the gun to reload they just fly in and blow you up then fly over runway to heal again.
They are far too overpowered and you just can't shot them down it's stupid i've come to dread maps with planes on now because there's always some maverick on there that can just fly around untouched in their death machine and there's not a thing anyone can do about it.
They should give the AA class stingers as well and increase the range and damage of the AA implacements just to stop the plane whoring going on it realy ruins a good game, i'm fed up of getting in a tank and getting blow up by a spec in the sky rant over i hope EA address this in the next patch.
**cue playwhorers posting in defence planes are easy to shoot down blah blah blah but you can tell the ones who hogged plane all map by the scores at end**

Totally agree. In such situations the only thing you can do is hope your team mates can use the AA properly and coordinate their attacks on the planes or simply have some good pilots on your own team.
 
I can use aa properly but a good pilot can just dodge away from lock and know excatly where you and come to blow you up it's well annoying, they are too over powered we need some other weapons to deal with them ie mobile AA stingers for AA class so they don't know where they are being locked from with AA implacements they know exactly where you are and your a sitting duck while you wait for it to lock on or reload.
 
despite its unbalances its still a great game, yes it can often be spoilt by indestructible planes but whinning on this forum wont change it, EA dont care now, they have our money and thats that ... play IO is an option but BF2 is about mass battles with armour planes copters etc, they got the balance right in 2142 which tbh is a far better overall game try that
 
It can take 3 orl 4 shots from the AA tank to bring down a chopper & yet it only takes one TV guided missile to take you out & once its locked on theres no escape even if you see it coming & try to jump out.

Hiding in the trees with AA is only any good if there is no commander to point you out,
 
I hated planes in BF1942 and I hated them in BF2.

I'm not a great pilot, I can't dogfight for love nor money, but AA's pose no threat, once you have he AA's location memorised, the second you hear a lock on, fly away, do a U-turn and strafe the AA site, they'll be dead before they get a lock on.

In BF1942, the planes were so fast and responsive that they could nose dive from a great height and pull up at the last second, you'd be lucky to get a single hit.

1 thing I like about BF2142, is that if an aircraft is bothering me, I can always pull out the AA unlock on the engineer. The static AA feels more useful as well as the AA emplacement on top of the walkers.
 
BF2 is an unfinished game, IMO. Poor balancing and too many stupid bugs. But like someone said, EA don't care now they have our money. By the sounds of it we have to buy 2142 if we want a finished game :(

I'm gonna wait for Quake Wars, I won't bother with another EA Multiplayer FPS for a while.
 
They're simply too responsive, especially the J10. All they need to do is to dramatically increase the speed at which the plane stalls and add some sort of damage system where, the plane loses mobility when damaged.

Also for the choppers they really need to nerf the TV missle, bigtime :mad: . It's getting ridiculous now, because every match has a TV missle whore and it completely spoils the game. Flying for me these days is simply a upwards race to get as high an altitude as possible, thats all you can do. Most of these whores can hardly fly the choppers, they just hover about high in the sky and keep lobbing tv missles at people; on rare occasions that I can get close to them, they get owned senseless with unguided rockets. :rolleyes:

To balance the tv missle, all they need to do is severley reduce the mobility of the tv missle and increase its speed. I would love to seem some of these noobs actually engage in some proper helicopter dogfighting!
 
I too hate the planes and choppers but at the end of the day its a really fun game, far better than 2142 which was dull and just isnt as fun to play. Dying on spawn is something u get used to :D
 
Is it still stupidly easy for a group in a large helicopter to take over a point just by hovering over it, while everyone does all they can to take the damn thing down to no avail? Used to see that all the time back in 2005 when I played BF2. It would take far too much effort to bring one of those down.
 
Secret is to stay out of armour when there are decent flyboys are about. Stick to DPVs and the like for whizzing around the map capping flags.

No point getting upset with it, you just have to adapt for the map, then you can wait for a city map and kill the flyboy over and over because he's crap on the ground.
 
BF2 is the perfect example of how to ruin a fantastic idea. I just don't know how DICE can sit around while the game is a unbalanced and buggy as it is, half of the problems with the game are blatantly obvious and only take a few minutes of most servers to spot.

ok, so let's hear your bugs and inbalances then?

The last patch fixed pretty much everything that needed to be fixed, and right now its probably in the best state that its ever been in.

With the amount of people still playing it, people must still be loving it, so i think you're in the minority here.
 
i just bought the deluxe edition.


I had it and sold it on but I have the urge to shout at my screen again in hopeless anger.

That's all I can think of from the top of my head, sure there's more, but those are the most obvious needed changes.

These are valid points, one AA missile should take down any aircraft, planes and choppers should have to land to be repaired and refitted. Ive never in RL seen a plane fly over an airstrip and magically become rearmed!

Neither of these are problems in my eyes. A claymore has massive damage potential and a big range, does anyone know if a claymore could take out a jeep in BF2? It should be able to.

Only thing with grenades is the throwing range, other than that they are ok too.
