you dont get it do you? when cf is off when i play the game it says its using 800mb of vram but if i turn cf on it says the game is using 2400mb vram am not talking about how much vram my cards have am talking about what the game is using
And im telling you the game is using exactly the same amount of vram no matter if in CF or not.
What i said had nothing to do with the amount of Vram you personally have but the explanation of how CF works with Vram, CF duplicates any Vram used across all GPU Vram memory banks, the game has no say in that and no control over that at all and what Afterburner is doing is adding it all together as one which is like saying quadcore CPU at 5Ghz is really a 20Ghz CPU.
The problem is that you don't understand how Afterburner reads Vram when in CF mode and when not in CF mode and you have made the assumption that its the game.
So unless your using NV card, cards with 2.5GB or 3GB per GPU its impossible, but you said CF so ill assume AMD and no AMD cards have more then 2GB per GPU, so again it cant use 2400mb vram
Per GPU on AMD fact, you just don't understand what's going on with Afterburner when in crossfire mode and how it reads Vram usage in that mode, i have already explained it.
Others were confused when they first started using Afterburner Vram using feature on AMD cards with CF.
Afterburner is adding all and each of your cards memory together when in CF mode, if the game is using 800MB of vram on a single GPU and then you add another GPU= 2 for CF Afterburner will tell you 1600MB is being used, if you added a third card Afterburner will tell you 2400MB is being used. if you added a forth card Afterburner will tell you 3200MB of vram is being used.
You take the amount of Vram being used shown in Afterburner or GPU-Z if your using that and you divide it by the amount of GPUs in use to get how much vram the game is actually using, the author of Afterburner or GPU-Z will tell you the same, if i were you i would sign up at guru3d.com and talk to the author of Afterburner, but i would not use that nickname because that user has been Banned from guru3d.com just recently..
You really should have posted your specs because that would have helped allot.
