Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

Excellent! Will be having a look at this tonight I think.

EDIT: Although....is it showing average FPS or just FPS at the moment?

MSI Afterburner and the in game Render.DrawFPS 1 both show the Average FPS at the moment.

The only easy way to get you min / max and avg over a session is with Fraps.

I know what you mean, people are experiencing very good things from the 11.10 drivers and CAP 4 app, yet i'm not, it's rather weird.

I seem to of gone backwards somehow. I had the v3 preview driver installed with CAP4 and it seemed good, but the other day I decided to install the 11.10 official driver and the bad stuttering came back (seemingly only on the large maps). Last night I removed the CAP4 profiles and it improved the stuttering, although didn't completely cure it, but the xfire usage dropped to 80-90%. The next chance I get I will be going back to the V3 preview driver and CAP4 in the hope it will be good again.

It's not great from AMD for sure, but there's clearly something odd going on with BF3 as NV is having issues with their drivers too. A friend has a 570 and is having regular driver crashes, which he tells me is happening to a lot of people with the 570.

I'm running this at 1650 x 1080, all ultra with deferred AA off and having no slowdown at all. I haven't tested framerate but it's fine on 32/64 player.

System :
Intel 2500K @ 4.2ghz
Asus P8P67 Pro
8GB Kingston Genesis Hyper X
Asus HD5850 (core at 850mhz, vram at 1150mhz)
Catalyst 11.10

Is the game scaling back settings dynamically enabling smooth gameplay or is this setup just working nicely?

I only ask as i see people with more powerful cards apparently struggling with performance.

But will Afterburner not be graphing the values in the background e.g. Windows desktop?

After which, eyeballing the graph or doing a bit of fancy spreadsheet work, should yield a value for average FPS?

How would a 550Ti 1GB run this? I'm just wanting to get a cheap card to put me on for a while.

I'd plan on running this with an i5-2500k and 8GB RAM 1600Mhz

Are you using Beta 8?

On mine is shows something like

GPU1 temp/usage
GPU2 temp/usage
D3D11 FPS
Mem XXXX

Wouldn't know off the top of my head pal and I am at work. It has everything that you have described just not D3D11. I will look when I get home but I am guessing I don't have BETA 8.

Well the gpu's sit around 30-50% each. The CPU is high, bumbles along between 90-100% not on full 100% though (like rage, lol)...

I tried disabling xfire last night however no real differance in FPS, did feel SLIGHTLY smoother tho (which made me even more sad!)

I am praying it is just the CPU bottlenecking me as i can just slot in a Phenom 965 into my board to sort the issue if not im gonna have to spend hundreds of pounds on bulldozer... and have 2/3 of a PC to try and sell on!

cpu limited just like Irish_Hawk, my brother was in the exact same boat with 2 5850's and a pII tricore, problems went when he got an I7

I would go with that one then mate... Tho me being me would want the most powerful one when really it is not needed lol.

The 955 you linked will be fine but I would go with the 965 as that was what you were originally after :).

Your decision.

If i was gonna spend 130's, me being me would go for this -
