I imagine I'll be able to play it on absolute minimum settings and res similar to how I can do ok enough on bc2 at present.

Being able to span both extremes is always a problem I think. Whats the last game that could play on almost anything yet be ground breaking too, usually the two sides are linked.
I'd bet more on the lower end being playable still more then high end stupidly detailed graphics 'just like the trailer'
 
I like the use of prone. So long as we don't have the BF2 swallow diving stupor that we used to have.

Going prone has many benefits but should come with a huge penalty of taking a fair while to get prone and settled. The fact you could shoot stuff accurately whilst in the process of diving to prone was ludicrous in BF2

because no matter how good the game is cod will destroy it in sales. this is why it will come out in october or after christmas.

october is the word ;)

it will be slightly better looking than bfbc2 no doubt use tricks from bfbc2 , crysis 2 , moh , and mirrors edge which if you look in the videos shown have aspects of all these games.
 
Reading that has kinda ****ed me off too, but at the same time, I'll be spending more time on the multiplayer ;) If BF3 in any way resembles COD though, I will not be pleased! I want to escape these daft run and gun perkfests.

Hopefully this is the case, i can currently run bfbc2 on max settings, 8xaa/16xaf dx11, 1920x1200 and the system doesnt struggle at all.

As for cod, mw2 wasnt too bad, but blops is terrible. But the next installment will sell bucketloads solely on name.

I was surprised that I was running it at 60FPS with 2x MSAA and 16x AF with everything on High earlier with a 5770 on 1920 * 1080.

That my old pic of fb mate.:cool:. It occasionally drops to about 50fps for me, max in the 150's, thats with the gpu's at stock, (630mhz), sometimes i run them at 750mhz on stock volts, boosts things a bit more.
