Its no different with BC2 I imagine. There are probably plenty of people out there who didn't even try it out not even to see if it was any good.

Aside from the enforced driving scenes and 1 particular gunfight that was just stupid I quite enjoyed it.

You always get these type of people, who just decide not to play half of their game on some weird principle. I guess its their loss, but it seems a bit closed minded and stupid to me.

?
I buy multiplayer games to play with my mates - i see nothing "weird" in principle about that, though i don't condemn people who like things different to me as being "stupid" either, as for closed minded - look in the mirror!

Still not completed CoD4 SP, WaW SP, BLOPS SP or BFBC2 SP.

But i find a lot of gamers diving into mp straight away sort of spoils it,for example dirt3 i have played a little in mp,but i am doing sp first to unlock cars and tracks and be rewarded, not seeing them all in the first 5 mins, same goes for bf3,i would like to see a few locations first and get a feel for the maps before jumping in mp,bf2 was different as it only had bots,i hear all the time people wanting unlocks opened up straight away:confused:,earn them first.

Battlefield regulars will always dive in to multi first, that's just the way it is.

For me a story driven single player mode is of no interest to me, battlefield is about online and I'm sure if BF3 was not a multi plat release and only on PC there would be no story single player and no one would be bothered.

I too buy multiplayer games to play with friends, and I don't have a problem with you doing so in BF3. However, BF3 is not just a multiplayer game, it will have a fully fledged singleplayer mode as well. All I was saying it that people who refuse to play the singleplayer on principle that BF should always be a multiplayer game are being stupid.

If there is multiplayer and singleplayer in a game, I usually don't play the multiplayer until I've finished the singleplayer.

I find the opposite. You can pick things apart in single player, usually theres a lot of time given to trigger the next event.
In multiplayer you have no chance, if they've created some awesome world all you can do is watch it whirl past in a colourful blaze

This is the equal how of how do you eat a kitkat.

i will be playing the SP of battlefield 3, but not before ive had a good long session on BF3 Multiplayer, but at some point i will play the SP.

I always get the single player out of the way first. I find that if i get a feeling for the way the game plays i can react better in multiplayer when i first start.
That's just me though, i know people who only play MP, they've never touched SP in their games.

I will be buying this game for the MP. Just like BC2 though, I wont dismiss the single player on principle. I gave that a chance and played it for about an hour. It was god awful imo. However, if the SP in BF3 is decent I will definately play through it. Somethimes there is just nothing like cutting down wave after wave of mindless figures with a pistol :D

As long as server admins can decide how many of each class can exist I don't care tbh. When playing on a public server and all your team mates are camping (and not doing a very good job) is mighty annoying.

This is never likely to happen officially. EA/DICE have never permitted class limitations as part of their ranked server agreement. Sure it happens but servers doing so are meant to be stopped from doing so or shut down. I can’t see this changing for BF3 tbh.

Never bothered with BC2 SP, and only if the SP in BF3 is amazing will I bother with it.

There is nothing quite like learning on the job (as it were) by diving straight into MP :D

On the few bc2 server I played on that limited snipers I didn't improve gameplay at all. You just ended up with the sniper slots taken up by rubbish campers who tended not to do much so didn't die, along with other people just camping and medic spamming.

To be fair BF3 is a sequel to BF2 and BF2 destroys BC2 in the teamplay department with a vastly superior squad system, larger maps will all so encourage teamplay and less camping as where in BC2 the maps are fairly small and narrow so it all ends up in a COD style fire fight with campers aplenty

^^ lol sure isn't. But it doesn't have to be a sniper, as almost any gun in BC2 can pretty much be a sniper rifle.

One major gripe I have with these games is that GPMG's are not as powerful as they are in real life. I can shoot a multiple times with a large caliber weapon and it does limited damage. A simple gun will kill the guy in less shot's. I know it's about 'balance', but if you are modelling it on real gun's the model the dynamics of the gun for goodness sake. (Like in COD where apparently a M16 is more powerful than a larger caliber gun.. ridiculous).

Anyway... deliberately NOT getting myself worked up for this game, as I really want it when it comes out, because everyone appears to have bailed out from playing BFBC2 multiplayer which is a real shame as I really enjoy playing it :-(

what are you on about? You have to scroll down half the browser on BC2 before you can get to games you can join fool.

I think Ill finish the single player before starting multi.

As people said its good to get a feel for the games/guns before diving into multiplayer, having said that I didnt really play BC2 sp, but BF3 sp looks a bit more scripted/epic, and I quite like the idea of having weapons/vehicles slowly trickled into the game rather than just starting multi straight off and seeing them all

Also, I plan to have a lan when it comes out with a few mates and hit up the single player in co op!! :D

I don't get why people are saying this. Its the first "proper" bf game to have a sp campaign so obviously emphasis is going to be put on it.

Why though? The main component people remember and want from having played BF2 is multiplayer. So wouldn't it make sense to use that as a selling point?

The fact EA have already declared they want BF3 to be a COD beater should give you some idea of the path they are taking with this game.

I just don't see how BF3 can meet expectations when you consider they're investing a massive amount of time on a SP campaign, and this game has to be ported to Xbox 360 & PS3. Corners will have to be cut somewhere.
