I'm an absolute Battlefield newbie (Last played the orig BF1942 many moons ago)
I'm downloading the BF3 alpha now, Any significant changes since the orig bf1942? (back in 2002) :D

Not really seeing much difference between the graphical settings (low, med, high). Do they just change the shadow resolution or something?

Just got one! :D

Thx!

I have 2 monitors connected to 1 4850 by DVI, but I only use the main 23" one for gaming.

So I presume that I will have to disable my 2nd monitor to play without crashes?

Well.. So far i think it sucks for an alpha :p

Seeing triangles and Stars trundling across the screen looks bloody ridiculus, someone has been shooting at me, i've hit the ground and crawled into a bush only to be killed by the same guy Because of that stupid f'in 3D spotting!

On another note my graphics card is really showing it's age now :( and i saw a tank flip upside down without touching anything lol

Surely you're used to the 3d spotting what with all the BFBC2 playing?

There must be a problem with the settings not applying or something. Changing them mid-game seems to do nothing, but changing them, then quitting and starting it up again seems to apply them.

Game runs fine on my X4 640 @ 3.6Ghz and 5770 512mb on low or medium. Drops to around 25-30fps on high.
