Battlefield 4 Nvidia Performance Issues

Hi Guys, I got BF4 today and was very disturbed by the lack of performance I was getting. I started the game and cranked everything up to Ulta (spec is in sig - Win 8 64bit, i5 4670k @4.5Ghz and Nvidia GTX 780 running at 1080p) and it ran like a slideshow.

I then updated to the latest Nvidia driver, defragged the PC, switched it off and on, and.. still couldn't run it well.

Even on High settings there is noticeable lag.

I have to put it on Medium to be fully playable.

Is anyone else having issues with this? Or is this because it is an AMD supported game now, so Nvidia cards are screwed?

Blazin

EDIT: I should also note, I have had a Windows error pop up, telling me that I am out of memory and I should try restarting the program (Battlefield 4) to see if it fixes it. First time I've ever seen that error message.

FINAL EDIT: All my fault. HDMI cable was plugged into the mobo HDMI port instead of the GTX 780. Woops :)

Not having issues here. 1080p, 670gtx, all ultra or high.

Don't know FPS, but I'm enjoying the campaign.

That's a relief.. of sorts. Haven't tried singleplayer yet, just been doing multiplayer.

I shall trawl the web through all the various performance issue threads.

Make sure v-sync is either off or set to adaptive, I assume on Ultra you won't be getting over 60fps consistently with a single card so v-sync will kill the frame-rate.

Perhaps your 8GB RAM is a problem too? BF4 recommended settings (8GB for 64bit) is possibly for more moderate settings?

I've not played the game personally so I'm only guessing.

Thanks, I shall try that. Hadn't occurred to me actually as normally I only touch V-Sync when I see screen tearing.

I would be very surprised if it requires >8GB RAM to run on Ultra. If it does then it must be horribly optimised seeing as it isn't a massive graphical improvement over BF3!

Wonder if its the CPU - I've not played around with the retail game on various CPUs yet but in the beta I found 4 core/4 thread ran like a dog compared to 4 core/8 thread Intel CPUs especially with higher settings. (EDIT: That said it seemed to be a bigger issue on Windows 7 than 8).

I was playing first few days if release on a stock 780 with a 2600k @ 4.5-4.7 on ultra. very little stutter even on 64 player maps @1080p. something can't be right I would uninstall drivers do a clean sweep and then reinstall again.

i52500k at 4.6 with an overclocked 660ti on win 8. No performance issues at all high/ultra. Just the usual issues that most are reporting lol. Oh and ssd and bf4 is great

Thanks guys, there must be some kind of driver issue here so I'll have a look at reinstalling them tomorrow to see if that fixes it.

Running between 50 - 60 fps, 1440p, vsyc, all high except ultra textures and no post AA. Gtx 670, i5 750 4ghz.

You must have a configuration error
