Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

broad statement my game is literally lag free since the last two days ive only had a couple of disconnects thats it !

some will have issues but it doesnt mean all do

Probably half the servers I played in yesterday seemed to lag but the more pressing issue is that it ended up crashing in every session I played, which was 4 times.

Is it just me or are the battlefield maps getting smaller and smaller with each release? The map designs have become so small and restricted that I find little fun in most of the maps currently available.

I've played through all the large conquest maps a lot now, and there are a selected few that I don't mind and the others just annoy me, which is based on scale (size of map), access to content (vehicles and buildings) and shape (border and out of bounds).

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the game, just more frustration than anything else, small list of things to name a few...

  • The ability to see and shoot the enemy from one capture point to another, makes the sense of scale seem small.

  • The capture points on most of the maps are set in a line, forcing us to literally run into each other, takes no strategy at all, just zerg rush down the middle.

  • The capture points are way too close together, less than 20/30 seconds to run from flag to flag in some cases. This allows everyone to shoot at each other as soon they spawn.

  • The borders are extremely restrictive. The map with the Dam for example, I bloody hate it, we have all this water and all for a single island which is within swimming distance, we have a dam which cannot be accessed or scaled or driven across and is literally only for visuals. For anyone who played BF2 you'll remember Kubra Dam, a map made 7 years ago, now compare the two and you'll see what I mean on how Lancang Dam is limited in scale and options.

  • The map scale is small compared to other BF games. This one is a huge issue for me, I thought when playing BF3 that the maps were small compared to BF2, now I play BF4 and I swear the maps are smaller and have less depth then BF3. Is this just me or am I somewhat right in saying that the walls are closing in?

You use to associate BF with a grandeur of scale in terms of how big and open the Battlefield was, now I just feel like a child stuck in a playpen rather than an open field. This is really my only gripe with the game for which I am enjoying with friends.

Are most of the main crashes fixed with this yet? I tend to wait for most games for a few weeks until they work properly.

For some people, you have have a near-100% bug-free time as long as you steer clear of 64 player servers. For some people it's still an unplayable mess of an experience. Seems to be rather luck of the draw as well, not a lot of common trends in hardware or anything.

I've only had 1 QTD and one 'black screen & end task on load' since release... But I've filtered out the 64 player servers as I've been playing on an older rig and wanted to avoid the performance hit! Also tend to play Rush/Oblit/Dom/CQ in that order of preference (but I wouldn't expect game mode to cause crashes)

Profanity or just general rudeness seems to me more regular in BF4, it's like more people spend their game time in chat complaining, trolling or arguing.

it's called the fps audience sadly its like that these days unlike back in the old days of quake and cs, I blame cod :p

Reading this thread makes me think I'm the only one enjoying this game...

I have played quite abit now and only experienced 2-3 crashes, and never experienced this rubber banding that people are describing. I think MP is a blast!

Yup too many console crossover players...

Can remember playing UT '99 and the chat & banter ingame was almost more entertaining than playing!

I'm oldschool - If someone catches me with a good shot I'll usually comment, if someone's impressing me I'll say so! (also if someone's being suspicious/rubbish/camping I'll let them know!) ;)

I am enjoying the game but only really when playing with people from here.

The hit reg. is still completely broken though :(

However, getting bored with most of the maps quite a bit already, love paracel, operation locker, siege though. Zavod is a pretty good map and dawnbreak or whatever it is called is growing on me!

And agree with above, as usual, maps suit 32/38 players better than 64 player.... Only maps that suits 64 player so far iare probably paracel and siege.

I think the boats need to be reworked, have a similar setup to the attack helis as atm the one boat driver has too much power but at the same time are very vulnerable to aircraft and ground vehicles + organised good infantry players (especially when controlling a TV missile, just a sitting duck then)

ATM, guns seem fine to me for balance, I just hope DICE don't spend two years tweaking every weapon etc. just for the sake of it.

Anyone else having a problem where in a game you will see things unlocked, I even saw you have been promoted pop up but when the match finishes nothing is saved, nothing unlocked and no battle rank promotion.

Might give this game a miss for a few weeks and see how it plays out, right now it is just not very enjoyable.

Why do you have the same tastes as me, go away. :p

Each time I get promoted it pops up about 3 times in a row.

Unfortunately just the one promotion though :D

I'm definitely enjoying it but still having the common issues sometimes, but not all that often. The most annoying is the hit reg lag. I give you 8 bullets, you kill me in one

Agree that the maps feel small too

The main thing which I am very underwhelmed by is the "big" levolution events, they really aren't that good or game/map changing tbph. I dare to say that the smaller things i.e. gate, car etc. alarms + shooting lights out are better for gameplay.

Floodzone with the damn collapsing makes a nice difference, however, most of the battles always take place on the rooftops so kind of pointless.....

Siege is probably the best for the levolution event.
