So an update after my previous post. They have released some Server-side patches since, and I have had some more time to get used to the game. My verdict: it gets a lot better. My actions? I bought Premium :D

I miss a lot of the BF3 feel, and could have happpily played it for at least another year or so, but BF4 definitely refines the formula and the end result is surprisingly different in terms of the feeling of the Battle/each Round. A lot of thunder and rage, and sudden death...like a much more deadly environment.

Hoping that the stability and bugs are ironed out, but I know DICE is hard at work on this.
 
they really should allow map making in a custom map making tool so it won't leak out their frostbite 2 engine and we don't have to suffer with poop maps but EA are too greedy for that :/
 
Haha no, that's when I get back from London on a business trip, lovely thought my macbook air and ipad combo is, it sucks for playing bf4 :p

At least I can sit here and research how to fix all the annoying niggles I have with my setup, like when my g700 is using the USB lead it randomly disconnects - usually in the middle of a critical moment causing me to go ballastic!

Also I have speakers and headphones, but I use the sennheiser rs220 units which go via my xfi spdif output, anyway I can have my sound go via both the headphones and the speakers without having to switch the default sound device? (speakers are plugged into the onboard soundcard on my rampage 4 extremem)

Oh and finally someone mentioned somewhere in this thread you can put the map up on a separate monitor whilst you are playing (I have 3 x 27" monitors), is this correct, if so; how?

You want surround more than a map on a second/third screen! ;)

It feels weird when I go back to 1 screen gaming.
 
Think how I feel... I've got BF4 installed here on my main workstation in the office, and a brand new GTX 770 OC ready to install.. but I've got manflu and 2 deadlines this week, so zero time to do anything other than work. Sympathy please! ;)
 
Playing mostly on hardcore servers, most of my deaths coming from vehicles pounding me! :|

Levelling up engineer class but you really need a second person as engineer with you (minimum)as I have tried going solo but even getting the drop on an armoured vehicle with the RPG, the damage just isn't enough. They have so much time to fire at me before I can reload a 2nd rocket. Tanks make very quick work of destroying the cover I am behind.

probably say there are to many vehicles on maps currently, or they are re spawning to quickly. One of the two.
 
Don't know if this has been posted but the R6 server patch with the crash fixes on is already being tested on some of the Multiplay servers.

Are you good at being sneaky?
Once you have unlocked all-kits-carbines take one wit recon and get C4 happy on those guys - dead before they know it, no need to reload.

(note: this advice based on theory rather than practice or skill on my part - I have the knack of running out of cover towards a tank right through the sights of the other tank I haven't noticed).

Couple of server crashes but no real problems from me. Haven't played BF in a long long time....when did they make the game navigation from a browser?? Totally rubbish, can't seem to get friends working either which is a pain. Thought we had moved past one guy picking a server and reading off the name for people to follow!

Looks like a good feature, perhaps in future monitors they may give more choice in crosshairs types, or maybe even in a firmware upgrade.

Just a few pixels in the centre of the screen would be awesome :)
 
Is it worth getting an SSD to improve load times? Currently got BF4 on a 1TB Seagate Barracuda which is fast for a 7,200RPM drive but obviously no match for a SSD. I'm guessing if you load the fastest you have first pick of the vehicles?

Not quite sure what you mean. As Engineer I am using the launchers such as RPG / Strela.

Unlocked the SMAW but it does less damage than the RPG and I have no problems with hitting a target with the rpg so I see no point in the smaw.

Probably just down to playing the odd solo game. Ideally should be in a small squad with a recon spotting, 2 Engineers to take down the armour and an assault class or support to help clean up on the ground.

Sorry, I meant if you want to be an anti-vehicle solo, it is in some ways easier as a Recon - you can take carbines rather than sniper rifles so you have the same mobility and anti-infantry abilities as an engi, and you can use C4 to blow up tanks in one go. Obviously very different compared to the ranged launchers but quite satisfying and solo-friendly.

This is why i always raise and eyebrow at people who are complaining about too any Recon's in BF4. They are without the doubt the most utilized and fun class to play in BF4 and i've never enjoyed playing a Recon this much since BC2.

Motion mines ftw.

Yes.

I just got this at the weekend. You will notice that the read/write is only 250/210mb compared to similar priced drives (but with considerably less storage) that have 500mb read/write.

But I have gone from waiting for over a minute to load a map to about 20 seconds to load a map and each time I do there is at least 90% of the vehicles left to chose to sit in.

If I had got one of the faster drives it would load in even less time, but I'm happy with 20 seconds, and 480GB of space :D

uninstalled, cleared registry, rebooted, reinstalled, can'r unselect the gaming app thing as it thinks its installed :/

Not got afterburner installed, besides needing to underclock the card may suggest theres a fault with it no?

I've added another 6950 and reinstalled drivers, lets see how that copes lol

Whilst doing this I've had to remove my Xonar, went into Bios to enable OB soudn and did notice that O/B gfx was set to auto, disabled this
