Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

For the record I never play sniper I have 3 kills from a rifle I picked up.

The fact remains, how you think the game should be played, whether objective based or not, isn't a set rule. Objective based doesn't mean everyone has to run round like a headless chicken chasing the next cap.
If Someone wants to sit in a corner and get 2 kills per round because that's how they are comfortable playing, then that's 2 people stopped on their way to objectives . If you can't deal with them then that's your problem not theirs.

Each to their own I guess, I just don't let it bother me.

The problem is that it's an objective based game and he is not playing the objective but purely sitting on the roof to boost his own K:D ratio because clearly he is unable to gain kills on foot.

This isn't always true. I was playing obiliteration on Zavod last night and as I'm currently grinding out Recon I was on one of the roofs with my SV98, spotting and laser locking any vehicles/heli's and I killed the enemy bomb carrier probably 10 times or more plus many more people trying to get the bomb, which helped my team move up and push forward with the bomb.

This is what I see a Recon's/sniper's role in this game. Yes they may camp out on a roof somewhere but if they are positioned right they can provide huge support.

On a side note; the recon class is actually a lot of fun to play when not using a sniper rifle.
Just had my first test of the asssault class and can't say I was impressed so far, that could be because of the first weapon though.

some times you just want to take a step back and chill on a roof top/mountain though :) granted, would rather half the team didn't all get the same idea at the same time xD haha

I'm so chuffed that the Recon has C4 again now though. Was a right laugh playing on my mates PC the other day, happily sniping away hidden. Had an enemy tank pass close by and I sprinted up to it, C4 in hand.

Cue manical giggling as he drove into an area with a lot of enemy goons. Click, booooom :D

Agree and don't forget if they are all on the roof they are sitting ducks for the recon on the ground.

It's recon class not sniper class, playing aggressive recon with a silenced ACW, motion balls / tgs and C4 is great fun. Alternatively playing as defender on rush, grab your mav and spotting all the attackers is great teamplay even if it is boring as ****.

I can't even deny that actual snipers have an important role to play. The problem is very few play correctly. At the of the day tho, play it how you want, you paid for it.

agree, I find it funny the way these pro's think they can tell others how to play the game yet think they are awesome sitting in a boat playing easymode :p

The only stat that I find quite useful is SPM, people who have a low SPM are generally the ones that camp and just want a cheap kill every 3 minutes and don't play for the objectives or do any team work

Oiiiiiiii

i have a low spm cos i have crap aim and i'm a sodding bullet magnet so sod off :D

Of course people can play what ever way they want too but that doesn't mean that people can't judge them and their play style.

The majority of recons don't spot, lase targets etc. they sit on top of a building/miles away from the action purely for their k/d ratio, it is the same with every single game where you have sniper rifles/recon class, bc 2 was the worse for it, hence why so many servers had to put a recon/sniper limit on.

Wes. is what I class as a good recon player, someone who constantly caps flags, take vehicles out with c4, throws motion balls, spots etc. not that guy who sits on top of a building with his tent up getting 1 kill every 3 minutes :D

At least the majority of boat drivers are providing support to the team and helping to win the round by:

- taking out other vehicles
- keep the flag areas clear (although it all depends on the map i.e. paracel storm, they are very useful but on lacang damn, they are pretty pointless unless you have tv missiles)
- a lot of boat drivers actually cap/defend the flags surprisingly

Don't post that here. You didn't capture any flags in an objective based game. Prepare yourself for the haters :D

On a more. Serious note, awesome. Wish I could fly that well.

He may not have capped flags but he helped the team win by, taking out all the vehicles thus the enemy team would have had no vehicle support whatsoever where as westie's team would have had the jets controlling the sky, 3 boats controlling the sea and by the looks of it, westie had his other friends on and they would have been the ones capping the flags.

Exceptions can be made! :D :p

But in all honesty your SPM is fine, I mean the ones that have a really low SPM i.e. the typical recon/sniper players e.g. this recon/sniper guy on westies team

He must be so proud! :D

Maybe he is proud, because maybe that's the level he plays at, unfortunately we can't all be pros, with 5/0 Kd and 2000 SPM. Some of us are low that's the way it is.

Anyone else having a problem with IE 11. Thought it was just EA but downloaded Firefox and works perfectly. For some reason whenever I load using IE11 it just prompts for username and password and takes me nowhere.

Driving me mad as I'd like to stick with IE11. Rolled back to IE10 that did nothing. Added the address to trusted sites which didn't help. Any ideas?
