Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

Yup I hate hardcore:

- more campers due to lack of killcam, spotting etc.
- die in like 2 shots even if shot in the toe lol, no time to react at all
- team killing

And a few other reasons.

BC 2 was superb on hardcore mode but bf 3/4 are better overall on normal imo.

Just had a couple of rounds with dodge and jester there, good fun :)

The hit reg. with tank shells and helis is ****ing me of big time, how on earth does DICE manage to make it even worse with every new game!?!? :o

Can't stand being team switched when balance is fine too.........

balance is shocking, its normally the good players that get moved as well. You play lights out for a side, help to achieve your side a good position on the battlefield, then get moved to the loosing side and all your hard work is lost.

Everything on Ultra, 4xmsaa but low Post Processing as I dont like the blur. Run 150% resolution scale as well as I only have a 1080 screen, vsync off so no input lag. Get between 80fps and 130fps depending on where I am, never ever drops below 80 even on Shanghai or Hainan when the buildings come down. I like Eye Candy :)

I'll have to mess about with that stuff too. So lazy got college work to do as well /yawn

Best thing about hardcore: DMRs are no longer "Sorry teammates, I'm just using it for the unlocks" weapons.

Worst thing about hardcore: softcore has conditioned me to stand behind tanks while repairing them so I'm protected from incoming bullets, and if the driver reverses I get pushed back rather than left behind. If you try this in hardcore (or real life I guess), it makes a sad, damp sound and you have to respawn :D

Interesting that you comment Nexus, that you don't like the very implements that have swung the balance back in favor of infantry that you so desperately wanted in BF3.

We had many a discussion on that subject last year, and yet here we are both agreeing that MBT LAW and the rest of the crap they used to turn the vehicles into vulnerable flaky objects is wrong.

Guys for some reason I can't join any server at all, all I keep getting is "joining server" and then nothing happens.
I've tried launching it from other internet browsers and it's still the same.
Has anyone had this error and what did you do to fix it?

Might pop on tonight, work tomorrow and had my arm stamped on today by a collegue, depends how well the pain killers kick in I suppose.

We need our own server that way we can team stack and stay on the same side.

I have switched back to xfactors settings, mix of high, medium, low, only thing I have changed is post processing, that is of and mesh set to ultra (surprised he hasn't set it to ultra tbh)

Also trying out that config for max FPS, tried setting it to 59.46 or something around that but tearing was terrible so tried 75 (recommended on BL forums) and tearing is gone  So far it seems to work well.......

Indeed, I hate playing on TE servers for that very reason, they constantly move players around and it is always me!

Although for that round on siege there, the team I got switched to were starting to cap most of the flags so there was no need for balance (in the end we won by 246 tickets).

haha true that! No way could I play hardcore in a tank with my repair bitches, I would run over them every time lol :D In fact I would probably run my entire team down :p

I think DICE have done a good with the balance between infantry and vehicle, still a few things that need to be tweaked though i.e.

- jets [once AA is nerfed, they will rape with ease again]
- attack helis [fly like crap and are just crap in general, can only use them on two maps, dawnbreaker and siege]
- little bird [the engis and repairing thing]
- aa [activ radar mainly]

Flares need to reload much faster, the amount of stinger faggots is ****ing annoying.

IMO there are way too many vehicles for most of the maps too and some vehicles need to removed from maps i.e. jets on dawnbreaker, boat on floodzone....

Vehicles are still very powerful in the right hands but can be taken down with ease when the enemy team are organised, that is why I hate the MBT law:

- fast reload
- iirc you get a fair bit of ammo
- most importantly the stupid "fire and forget" in the general direction of a vehicle

and combined with roof campers, it is a ****ing pita.

The main thing that has made the difference for balance, which I love is:

- limited ammo (jets need this)
- RPG's actually being good
- and mainly the maps, way more cover for infantry
- you can't spot as much (only applicable to aircraft really though)

I too like hardcore, but there's a couple of things I prefer about normal:
Constant enemy/friendly id - delay on HC too long.
Spotting - for those friggin campers
Map - so I know where N/S/E/W are.
I don't have to worry about friendlies running in front of my bullets - and then they get upset with me? :/

As a result, I probably enjoy normal a little more.

I do wish there was some kind of hit markers on - there were a small number of servers with hit markers in hardcore - mostly due to being unable to depend on Dice's "netcode" so often getting into bad situations due to only working out too late that my bullets aren't infact having any effect.

The friendly tag delay isn't great but I can deal with that - its that sometimes its massively delayed which really screws things up and in rare events shows up on hostiles :( (seen that happen probably 1-2 in every 10 rounds or so). I'd rather they did away with the tags entirely though and jst made the skins distinctly enough different color you can visually id.

TBH that pretty much is what hardcore is about :P so not suprising you don't like it, I love being able to boss into a room and take out several people before they've even reacted (with controlled fire not spray and pray). It does give poor players a slightly higher chance over average players compared to normal mode but top players will still be king and better able to bring their skill against groups of average players.

Normal mode (as far as it goes) is actually pretty decent in BF4 compared to "softcore" in many other similiar games its less forgiving than typical for softcore (still won't find me playing it out of choice though :P).

Lol 2EZ! :D

Hope you can still repair my tank ok?

I kid I kid :p
Best thing for balance would be to have everyone running the nexus-bot running at one time. :D

hehe nexus bot FTW! Covers all areas except jets :p :(

Yeah hardcore was even worse in bf 3 due to the suppression system messing the accuracy up big time, essentially whoever fired first in that game will win, when suppressed in bf3, your bullets go everywhere except where you aim :o

Should come join us for a few games on normal!

I play hardcore all the time, however im thinking of going back to normal for a bit as sniping buttholes are really making me rage. Nice to play on servers with sniper limiters but being the gung ho noob that i am they still get me :D

Still get it a bit in BF4 once the supression system kicks in, doesn't tend to be a problem most of the time but had some cases where its messed up my game.

Supression should never mess with the spread/accuracy formula imo just decrease stability (not a great fan of it affecting sight sway though its ok if done properly).

Yeah I have noticed the same too, although not sure if that is related to suppression as sometimes that happens even when I'm not suppressed

Suppression is still damn annoying in this game but thankfully bearable compared to bf 3, hate the scope sway and the way you flinch when shot, imo there should be no scope sway or flinching etc. at all, blurring is enough.

yeah im good fun on bf4 cause soon as i spawn on you i become your human shield and neally die lol.

still moaning about your missed heli shot ;) tbf it did hit but i was having shocking hitreg on that server.

I'm not a HC fanboy either , got into a game with PappaB yesterday by mistake and the first thing i did was kill a teammate running towards me as he didnt have blue dorito , ooops.

Mind you i did get loads of kills with the AA on hainan but it was testing my patience working out if the planes/helis/everything was enemy or not. Kept having to spam the main map up every few secs and was getting tired with it. I guess thats a good reason to use the second monitor.

Had to leave the round early today as I had to get some food before working tonight. And thanks to Eviljester as he's always up for a few rounds in the daytime , we did well on that hainan round holding C and hunting that elusive sniper ;)
