Anyone else having problems joining games on win 8.1? I upgraded last night to stop the hitching in windows 7 and now I either can't join games or get kicked after 3 seconds. I've tried the EA punkbuster fix as well...

Did you go from Win7 to 8.1 and if so, how did you perform the upgrade? If you let Windows do it's own upgrade thing I would suggest scrapping it and doing a clean install. I was plagued with issues after 'upgrading'.

Clean install. repair install BF4 in Origin and download and run pbsetup.

Yup, and to make it worse one of the server's we were on the other night stated it was auto team balancing based on Battlelog stats.

which wouldn't be an issue if they'd made the stats useful, they have enough information to do it they just couldn't be arsed .

When are we getting some more big maps?

Couple are large, but most just seem too small sometimes. Hell, I think some of the BF:BC2 maps were bigger (never mind better designed)

I think the smaller map size is due to the consoles tbh. Most maps work pretty well with 48 players rather than 64.

The problem with these maps, just like BF 3 maps is that they were designed to cater for all types of game modes, that is why BC 2 maps for rush still kick ass, they were designed purely for rush.

I am hoping that the next DLC pack (one after SA) is epic, CR was a huge let down.

nah they were just over E and the slopes down to C, a handful made attempts at a/b and to move on c but most didnt bother.



think it was a mixture, again ours were mainly around A with runs at B, but they had us capped out in just a few minutes, our armour was just running at flags so got blown to pieces by the dozens of engys waiting for them.

didn't really notice anything major with the hitreg, but i'm still getting killed sooooooo often by people with 1 health, thought they'd attempted to fix it, but it seems not .

And that is why I can't enjoy infantry play as much, does my head in when people get in vehicles and waste them like that


Yup it is frustrating, not as frustrating as putting a mag from the ace 23 into somebody only to have them turn around and drop me with 2 shots from a pistol though

When can we expect Second Assault?

No idea, complete joke though considering xbox "priority" launch has long passed now and EA/DICE's decision to with hold DLC shouldn't affect this release considering they have already got the map pack done.......

Ranks and XP mean nothing in this game, in fact the stats are almost pointless so I have no problem with this.

If only most other players realised this, so sick of seeing people whining about one team having 6+ high ranks on one team...... I bet you if their team had 6+ high ranks or won, they wouldn't be complaining!

There is even a server that has some stupid balance plugin that balances the team based on ranks, think I was on with westie etc. so we had about 6 110 ranks on one team, however, had like 6 less players

And right again, only stat that is somewhat useful now is skill (was so pointless in bf 3 though), SPM is a complete joke with all these xp boosts etc.

This is a quick and painless way to unlock gadgets for kits and vehicles. It is a very quick way of doing it if you lob a boost on at the same time. Some people dont like it but who cares. Each to their own , some people think locker point farming shouldnt be allowed or knife/pistol servers etc etc I say play how you want you paid for the game go enjoy whatever it is you do with it.

I woud have no problem doing it to unlock my jets and attack heli, id rather do it like this than be a burden for the team during a ranked game.

love being kicked/told to watch my language in servers xD some people just need to know how their severe lack of reg makes me feel ****ing **** sucking ******!!!!

also like the "no swearing" rules.... now no racism and such I can understand... but the characters in game swear.... it's hardly anything new to be heard (though some peoples use of the English language can be more colourful than a double rainbow *cough*...Badboy.......*cough* ).

18+ game.....contains swearing as default.......not allowed to swear online incase because of the children.... or some BS shouldn't be on the ****ing game anyway....n00bs.......


EDIT: oh on a separate note... anyone good with twitch.tv....having some hiccups. was streaming over the weekend (only 720p30fps....nothing too strenuous) and it would be fine for a while but then about 10 mins or so into the stream it would become really choppy. this is for people watching the stream now. my game ran fine still getting over 100fps, the preview looked fine in OBS and not a single frame was dropped, network showing all green, twitch dashboard even said excellent quality.... but the actual stream was stuttering like a mother******. I have an i7 3770k@4,4GHz with HT enabled. is it just a case that bf4 (being the power hungry *****that it is) is just competing with OSB rendering for resources and such that the stream is taking a hit?

was thinking about using shadowplay as heard good things but apparently you can only stream in-game...which is a bit pants as I think we changed servers every few rounds. thinking I could lower the rendering speed at a cost of quality and see if that fixes it.... any suggestions? (oh and it's not network bottlenecking, got 17Mbps up and set to 2.5Mbps stream so plenty of over head )

Although give some of the language that is hurled around at times on some COD games I have played there is a need for such filters, although their implementation need to be improved so they at least give warnings.

Theres no need for some of it though - one of the good things about the CQ247 servers they usually let random outbusts of it slide i.e. venting - but kick people if its aimed at someone specifically (as Jimlad mentioned above) way too many servers get funny about it.

I have not played on CQ247 for a long time, but I guess that the choice to kick is made by the admins? If so what happens if there is no admin online?

Most of the servers I play on seem to use server plugins to monitor language and that is were the problem resides, many of them issuing no warnings, some of the ones that do have it on the loading screen or rotating in the chat log where they can be easily missed.

People using the occasional piece of bad language on an 18 rated game should not be punished, people using offensive language to insult other players however should be kicked / banned.

My problem is more with poor server management and poor admins of which this is a symptom.
