BBC Gameshow - The Traitors

I've never managed to understand Among Us. I downloaded it, tried to understand the rules for 5 minutes and I gave up and moved on to other more traditional games.

I assumed the show was just some crappy Reality TV series, BUT, the interest in this thread, the large list of international versions (including Spain!) and the huge amount of coverage it gets on digitalspy.co.uk (although I didn't read a single article yet) has piqued my curiosity.

Do they explain the concept and rules in the very 1st episode. More importantly, can I play Among Us after watching the show and actually explain the rules to other people?!?!

Watched season 2 first of the UK version and now on season 1. That John guy (don't call him a masseuse) is an utter *****. Real anger issues and a complete hypocrite, he claims he was edited to look the bad guy. Even if that were true, the brutal assault he's just been done for says enough.

Never liked the bloke on the first series, came across an aggressive tool and classic bully who claimed victim status - news of him being convicted of assault does not surprise me.

Watching Australia S2. What a bunch of insidious whoppers. Ugh. The celebrity aspect is a negative. Feels a lot more like manufactured, plastic reality TV.

I only dipped in at the end of s2 on the bbc, thought it was really good tbh, something rare on regular uk tv. Think i'll go back to watch s1 bbc and maybe the aussie version.

If you’ve not watched the australian traitors then that series is worth it.. the US series is really bad - it’s about youtube influencers and how many followers they have.. it’s dire.

Unfortunately any program like this is going to get worse over subsequent series. Big Brother started the trend where the first series or so was actually an interesting concept but over time the simple format will get buried under endless gimmicks to try and keep it fresh plus it will start to attract the ‘typical’ vacuous ‘reality TV style’ contestants who want to use it as a gateway to becoming a Z list celeb.

Thoughts on this series so far:
1) Binning off 3 contestants in the manner that they did on the train seemed so needlessly harsh that there has to be more going on there. I’d expect them to be back in some form later on.

2) Making one of the sisters a traitor was such an obvious move from the production team that the faithful should have expected it and be actively trying to determine which one it is. A 50/50 chance this early in the game when you generally have little to go on is huge.

The cast for the first 2 series was great. The cast for this season seems to be a big tick box exercise of weirdos rather than normal people. It's hard to care about any of the contestants so far.

We said very similar last night after watching the first two episodes (2nd was on iPlayer) Armani will talk herself to banishment in a couple of episodes I'd imagine.

I do think trying to find “personalities” is to the detriment of shows like this - but maybe that’s what the general public wants. I do find it a bit depressing that anyone that is intelligent or a bit different is immediately viewed with suspicion.

Yep though one thing that’s really starting to grate is the audio cue every time a traitor appears on screen - is that really necessary?
