Actually in it's heyday when I was a lad, Neighbours was pulling in 18m+ viewers (yes, you heard me, OVER EIGHTEEN MILLION!). At the time the population of Australia was lower than that.

It actually gets more viewers than any other daytime show other than the BBC Lunchtime News and between the two showings, has a combined of around 6 million people
