BBC standing up to scientology

I could have murdered that bloke who thought he looked so cool in those sunglasses and was continually rude and interrupting the BBC reporter.

Even when the reporter completely lost it he continued stirring the pot.

They really did shoot themselves in the foot with this one. You can't outstage the BBC on their own airwaves. Even then, the British public aren't dumb.

I'd like to know if they have any personality at all. They work so hard to live "perfect lives" that I doubt they could answer questions like, "What's your favourite band?" "What football team do you support?" "What's your favourite action movie (that doesn't the include Mission Impossible trilogy). I dunno what I'd do if I was "harassed" by Scientologists. They're kinda creepy. I don't blame Sweeney for snapping like that. Also notice that YouTube video had 202 comments but they were all reported as "Spam" and therefore removed by the uploader.. who happens to be a Scientologist from London..

The big with the holocaust and pics of naked kids, I mean what the hell is that all about, as john sweeney said it was "sickening"

He was someone you just GOTTA hit

You know , the one that is always one step ahead? Always got the winning answer? the one with the last words? the one who gets away with murder?

That guy that just pushes you over the edge..

Van Damm, at least with Islam and Christianity you get condemned in your next life not in this one! :p

Also you are wrong about it not being taken seriously, it may be relatively minor in this country (It's growing) but looking at what it's doing in the US is scary.

Dude... seriously... a religion with its own intelligence agency, hundreds and millions of pounds to it's name, celebrity endorsements and massive amounts of power and influence in the most powerful country in the world that is trying to spread it's poison to other countries is completely worthy of a documentary.

The majority of the people in the UK have absolutely no idea what Scientology is and what many members are capable of. It is slowly picking up in the UK and needs to be brought to people's attention to stop it spreading.

I live in East Grinstead 2 miles away from Saint Hill, the epicentre of Scientology and where Tom has visited many times.

Spoke to one once when I worked in a local shop a good few years ago now and he creeped me out... and he also fit the perfect stereotype. Ex drug-addict, lost, wayward, and had a very odd, almost sinister way about him. As I asked him questions out of genuine curiousity he tried to get me to attend a ball they were having and said if I mentioned his name at the door i'd get in no problem. I acted interested but after he left just felt a bit quiet and pensive. That encounter always stuck with me.

It's a cult, nothing more... nothing less. If that weren't true they wouldn't be so desperate to get people to stop referring to it as such, and wouldn't resprt to harassment and intimidation to silence people. They've done more damage by their own actions than anyone not of the church could ever do to them.

I was actually quite disgusted when I saw the BBC head honcho "apologising" for his outburst. The man just spent several weeks putting his neck out to investigate these people, was subhected to intimidation and harassment himself, and he lost it. Just like anyone could have done in that situation. If the BBC feel the need to apologise for that then shame on them. Though I suspect that their "apology" has more to do with not wanting to help the scientology "spin" on events, rather than a genuine feeling of wrongdoing on the journalists part. Made me angry to watch that program to be honest, especially when that scino "leader" was talking.

I agree.
A cult grows with each day someone converts over.

ahh, I see. So they tried to get money off you saying it was for a great cause?

No, actually. But it was very cunning, and I can see how their methods must work on many people. By the time they ask for money from you, it'd be too late you know? You'd be involved.

tbh people in the UK generally have a lot more common sense then in the US, not surprised it started out there. The bit about the disconnected family really pained me

Especially how they said that her child would Self harm... just wrong tbh :(

Think if they got some power in the American goverment, they would proabably kill all us Brits unless we signed up to Scientology.

Scary

Also the bit with the guy in clearwater crying because of what he did to his dad and what his kids are doing. How can a relgion not support family.

Bit disappointed in the show tbh.. Dint realise it was only half an hour long. I was expecting a more in depth documentary.

Its seems as though the BBC had spend a lot of time doing research as that Tommy Davis dude mentions how John sweeney spent a couple of days with him. But because of the outburst at the end, they have rushed this show through to counter the scientology videos and youtube clips.

I was pretty disappointed too. The way it was being hyped I was expecting an in-depth look at it, but it still didnt say a *huge* amount about what scientology actually is. It was more like 'My adventure with the American nutters'.

Its becuase some people are so ******* stupid enough to believe and agree to what these idiots believe in thats making it bigger and bigger.

You must be an absolute fool to believe in something as stupid as this. Its almost like 'The Jack Thompson Cult', people must be even stupider than him to join something like this.

Nothing to worry about though really. When their is a sane person running the country (me :)) its bye bye to these idiots heopfully put them in a volcano and nuke them. :D :D

Oh really?

Source? Or just your own opinion there?

I am guessing opinion, from my experience the percentage of idiots is about the same. Which is to say worryingly high...
