The BBC Weather website currently has a 'beta' which you can try out. Presumably the intention is to make this replace the current site in due course. I think it is awful. The current site is crystal clear, you can see a 5-day forecast at a glance, complete with day and night temps, wind speed, visibility, pressure, humidity, UV index and pollution. All on one page without needing to click anything else or scroll:

This is its touted replacement:

Which one of those is more intuitive to you?

To get the same amount of info as before, you need to click on subheadings and scroll down. The images of weather are unclear - they should keep it simple. A black cloud = cloudy. A black cloud with one rain drop = light rain. A black cloud with two rain drops = heavy rain. That is as complicated as it needs to be.

They've also done away with colours for the temperatures which again made it easy to see at a glance, even without actually reading the numbers, how hot or cold it will be. eg. blue for cold, yellow for warm, orange for hot etc.

Layout is better on old site but the next 12 hours data on new site is extremely useful.

I prefer the old site, I like the layout, the colours and the navigation options give me more choice. The new colour scheme is ghastly. The only part I like here is the map at the bottom of the next 12 hours page.

hmmm, I prefer the old, but will adjust to the new..

will never forget the first time I saw the colour purple on a temperature map... "oooh" I thought to myself "purple is a nice colour, I like purple" oh how wrong I was, purple meant "bits will fall off its going to be that damn cold"..

I pity the day we start seeing less than the pale blue we see these days

The BBC Weather site is shockingly bad though.

Example:

Next 24 hours are all heavy showers, apart from 1 image which is overcast and the summary says... overcast!! I mean, if i was looking at the summary I would want to know it was going to rain that day - in fact that is pretty much all I am interested in.

There should be a '24 hour forecast' tab on the old version of the weather site (not for Brentwood though, oddly) - click on that and it tells you what the weather will be every three hours.

The current site is great in that you can glance very quickly at it and obtain all the information you need. I suppose it looks a little dated in this day and age mind.

I've been using the beta for a while, quite like it now I have got used to it, but I agree it isn't as easy to see the weeks weather at a glance.

first one is much better for general use tbh

the next 12 hours thing on the new site is nice, btu that could have been very easily put into the first site...
