be* - and bad reviews?

The other advantage of being on a service without an IP profile, a la Max, is that what you sync at is what you'll get - you aren't tied by half megabit steps.
ADSL2+ can do Seamless Rate Adaption too, which should make any variation in SNR margin less painful.

In addition to the SNR margin and attenuation that MrLOL asked for, the current rate your modem is connected at is useful too.

Did you have any trouble signing up? I signed up today but the when signing up online it wouldn't take my address so i had to do it over the phone. They sent me an e-mail with a link to click to set up my billing a finish the order. Problem is the link doesn't work! Tried in both IE and Firefox with no luck. Gave them a call and they say theres problems with the servers and to keep trying. He didn't seem to sure of what he was saying and it seemed a bit of a brush off. Ill keep trying till tomorrow and ill give them another call. Hopefully i haven't made the wrong decision in migrating from Zen!

I signed up monday evening with no probs (i thought) , then yesterday i got a txt saying they had sent me a mail so when i got home i checked,it said my sign up have failed because i didnt have 50 pounds in my bank, the sign up charge is 24 quid ? and there was about 35 in the account when i signed up so i phoned them and the guy didnt really seem to have a clue what i was talking about he just kept saying "oh yeah u need 50 in the account but they wont debit that much" , when i mentioned is doesnt say anything about that ANYWHERE on the site he didnt know what to say

So im abit miffed to be honest, i'll add more funds to the account but they should have informed me as i signed up that i needed xxxx ammount of funds in my account

Not a very good start with a new ISP is it ? :(

I think that's because they charged the £24 set up fee plus a pro-rata amount for the first months use. But yes, they should have told you.

No not a good start at all!

I have'nt even given any payment details yet as its still down! They say that the technicians are working on it  I also queried why my Member ID and password wouldnt let me sign into the members area. He reccomended that i forward the email back to them and someone would take a look. I have now received an email back stating no one is there to deal with it and to give them a call!!!!!

I would think it would be obvious to be honest. The website itself even says £24 monthly + £24 connection fee. I don't know of any ISP that doesn't charge you a month in adavnce.

How is Be's network holding up against an unlimited download limit with no throttling? Normally offering that will crush an ISP.
I guess this shows how overpriced the BT Centrals are for ISP's who don't offer LLU? Or is there another factor which allows them to support that much traffic?

Started the migration from (the once mighty) Eclipse to Be* Unlimited a couple of days ago, expecting to go live on the 17th.

Anyone on here got a Pro account to boost their upload speed?

Very good by all accounts ;)

Hi guys

With the stats below what sort of speeds could I expect IF I moved to 'Be'?

Link Information

Uptime: 4 days, 13:58:02

Modulation: G.992.1 annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 8,128

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 288.95 / 2.97

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 19.5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 21.0 / 35.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 23.0 / 7.0

Thanks :)

Be* let me try out the Pro connection for the day via their ticket system, just to see if it worked....but i only gained 30kb, so didn't upgrade. Although the tech guy did say i should try the 3dB noise margin setup, but i asked for the 7dB which is what i'm usually set at. 3dB may have given me a nice little increase, maybe i'll give it another sometime soon :)

As far as i know, the usual dB margin for Be* is [dB]: 7.0 / 7.0 so u should see a very nice increase. This can be adjusted either way by contacting them via phone or the ticket system. The lower the dB the faster the speed, higher for more stability.

I'm loving working for Be/O2 at the moment, just thought i'd throw that in there :D

our network infrastructure is unbelievably good.

Can you expand on that? I was wondering about the FUP they hope never to implement. It seems they are the ISP of choice at the mo they will be getting hammerd with all the heavy downloaders jumping on board.

Been with Be for 18 months & they are v good. The few problems solved quickly.

Call centre is in Bulgaria but there was tlak on bringing back to UK. Its better than the Indian one. Contact via 0808, free call:)
Had some slow down in the evenings a while back but rarely dropped below 12 MBps. I've found I have to reboot the router about once a month if my speeds drop.

FUP in the early days we were told threshold was 600 GB a month/20GB in a day. I did 60GB once on Plus Net in a month which was hard to sustain so no problem with Be.

You could't tell me when you lot expect to upgrade melrosegate exchange in york could you ??

your website says june 07

Any of this make any sense to anyone? :/

Code:
ADSL Line Type GDMT
ADSL Line Coding INTERLEAVED
Line Attenuation (Down):46 (Up):26
Noise Margin (Down):4 (Up):21
Total Output Power (Down):0 (Up):0
Current Rate DownStr: 5024(K) UpStr: 448(K)
ADSL Line Status UP
FEC(FAST) (Near):0 (Far):0
FEC(INTERL) (Near):28152 (Far):478610
CRC(FAST) (Near):0 (Far):0
CRC(INTERL) (Near):98 (Far):245
HEC(FAST) (Near):0 (Far):0
HEC(INTERL) (Near):476 (Far):0
Showtime last(sec) 67585
ADSL_FW_Version 0.49
ADSL_Board_Type Annex A

Be* is enabled in my area. I'm on Virgin BB 20mb but it barely runs at 10mb since the upgrade. I pay £29/month for it.

Am tempted by the Be* deal. £24/month plus £10.50 for a phone line would take it £5.50/mo over my current deal but if I can get a much faster speed then :)

I guess the problem is I won't know what speed I'd get until I'm set up :( 10mb/adsl wouldn't be such a good deal would it!
