Beach security

I saw some years ago a screw in beach safe

Seems hard to find but this is on printables.

Yuo can also get some plastic ones with a metal hoop that you lock on (bit like a bike lock) but that means you need something to connect to which if its just a beach you wont have

These sorts of thing really just to put off the petty thief who will grab and run

Pop over to Lomo Watersports and take a look at a dry bag or backpack there. You could also get a long strap and tether it to yourself when in the water.

Or how about a waterproof bum bag?

Or a swim float?

book a hotel that has its own beach front with security, take nothing down with you, sign everything to the room. easy

Put them in a bag, then dig a hole in the sand (about 4 feet should do it). Carefully stash the bag at the bottom of the hole and quickly fill it in without attracting too much attention.

Once the hole is filled in you need to smooth over the surface so it looks indistinguishable from the rest of the beach. Make sure you don't mark the location with anything which could clue an onlooker in.

Then go and enjoy having a swim etc. When you need to retrieve the items simply dig them up.

I got too far into reading this post before realising you weren’t talking about the kid.

Personally just use my phone as a camera these days and wouldn't take a camera separately to a beach (unless you have someone else to mind it), phone, keys and other small valuables I use a cross body/sling dry bag, anything else just have to hope no one steals - I've not so far had a problem with things like towels (though personally burn too easily to spend much time at beaches during peak season - so usually the one in the shade minding stuff).

At the beach last week in Italy.

We left everything in the hotel room except beach towels, a bottle of water and our hotel room key.

I tied the room key into my trunks.

We've use this method very successfully on several beach holidays...

...our travel insurance has covered the replacement keys, wallets, cash, phones, passports and cameras each time, although our premiums seem to be much higher each trip, for some weird reason.

...but we've never had anything stolen.

Next trip we'll use the same method, but we'll be swimming in the sea with this strapped to one of the kids:

This.

Why do you need other stuff at the beach?

I go swimming in the sea reasonably regularly when we are in Norfolk I have a key safe, just leave the door key in that then I'm only bringing a towel and my crocs for walking.

If someone really wants to nick those then fine, far from the end of the world.
