Is anyone watching this? It's absolutely hardcore!

The bloke just picked up a raw fish and started eating it like a bloomin' bear! The fish's guts literally exploded out of its gills!

What do you mean?

He wakes up next morning after after so called freezing conditions and an extra foot of snow and punches his way through the snow. Only thing was, it wasn't fresh.

Just watched the program and was amazed at this guy. Made me laugh when the fox ran away though! I can`t wait to see the next program in a weeks time.

was it just me or did he sprout a nice dry jumper after jumping in the freezing water?
Yes, as he took off most of his clothes before jumping in.

Only watched parts of it, can't miss primeval.

I was thinking of posting a thread on him as i've watch last weeks and this week's and he just does'nt match up to good old Ray Mears programes.

Bear Grylls programmes just seem very fake in places and lack going more indepth of how to survive.

Few examples I remmeber from tonights shows are.

Jumping from the air plane and landing right next to the cammera man.

Running down a track thats already been disturbed.

punching through "fresh snow" when he was supposed to have been sleeping under it.

Catching a fish on a blunt hook with no barb on the end to stop the fish easily coming loose if it did manage to pierce its mouth, also the line was shorts when he pulled it out than when he put it in with 3 or so hooks.

The camera is almost always placed to make things look more dangerous and to me made it look cheesey or placed so some things are hidden, such as when he jumped off the snow ledge while he towed his rucksack with knotts in it.

He seems to know quite abit of stuff and most I already know due to Ray Mears but Ray went into more depth to explain things.

I will probably keep watching the show but hope it gets better than this last one. The rainforrest one was more interesting but still seemed more like a cheap action film in places.

What a tool.

He's not a patch on Ray, just some guy who likes drinking shee-ite water and eating alive fish. Shock tactics to get himself known, not "survival-skillz".

The episode tonight was the first one I saw and I echo everyone else's comments really.

He also seems to not really know how to use a knife to be honest, when he was making his snow shoes he cut himself, which I'm not suprised of as he was pressing the knife towards his body often and generally flicking it about. I'm sure he wouldn't last very long if he was truely on his own.

I think the difference is Ray Mears survives for weeks this guy gets out as fast as possible, so they have different approaches to 'survival'

Certainly appeared to me to be highly "dramatised" and the various bits were just set pieces to demonstrate certain survival skills, rather than an actual real world use of them (aka Ray Mears).

The guy broke his back in a parachute jump and a couple of years later was the youngest ever Brit to climb Everest.

I heard him talk about Everest at The Royal Geographical Society in London and spoke to him afterwards - he seemed quite shy.
