Bear Grylls

He still does everything on TV yes he clearly has a TV man and on the remote sets he has been known to shoot off to a hotel of sorts according to WIKII.

Either way its good TV and I love it :)

some of the stuff thats aparently in the wilderness is next to an american highway lol....

would never take survival tips from Grylls, the whole point of survival is to keep yourself and others safe not jump in to fast flowing rivers or poke a grizzly bear up the bum just to get a thrill out of it, give me Ray mears any day

This ^^

He does so many dumb things you'd never attempt whether in a survival situation or not.

I normally watch them type of shows for entertainment value and can safely say that Bear Grylls is a lot more entertaining than Ray Mears in my opinion. Really enjoy his shows!

I prefer watching Mears shows. Grylls stuff is made for entertainment with the minimum of education. But Mears is made for education more than entertainment. If I was lost in the wilderness and had to take either or, I would take Mears.

I find Bear Grylls fairly entertaining, sometimes what he does is fairly extreme. Did anyone else watch the urban survival episode ?

All he does is eat everything. He won't stop until he gets enough.

"Look at this rare and incredible animal. So respectful, so graceful and beautiful... OMNOMONOMNOMONONOM!!!!"

It's OK Bear Grylls, we get it! You eat all the animals, Jesus Christ, calm down!

Actual lol, wife looked at me so I showed her and she lolled also. Love BG though.

I like Ray Mears and Bear Grylls but I find Bear's more exciting to watch and make a more entertaining program personally.

I have also tried watching Survivor Man he really does go it on his own just him and the cameras and no other help but its not as good to watch.

I find both equally appealing at 2am when thats all thats on, but in a crazy situation where i had to pick i'd watch Bear every time.

Urban survival was easily one of the best episodes. Anyone know which city they used?

Oh and anyone see the one where he gutted a dead camel and slept inside it

Although watched a couple of the new series and they just have him doing random stuff with the crew, like getting them to make a fake sandstorm. Not as good as the other series' :(

p.s. loved this bit :D

Don't see why it has to be one or the other? Personally I find mears a bit boring and fat (:p). You have to respect grylls for what he has done and if you need someone to climb a mountain or trek long distances then bear would be your man. If you want someone to explain how aboriginals made fire or which weed to eat then mears is better.

Summed it up nicely tbh...

Grills is a former SAS trooper - he knows a bit about survival but is a general all round adventurer type...

Mears is a survival expert - he's a complete spotter, knows his subject matter very very well. He's not some fitness freak though - nor really the sort to go on the expeditions that Bear Grills undertakes.

I can't stand Bear Grylls, but I do love Ray Mears programs, especially his earlier shows that actually included real survival accounts. His recent series about Canada and the Hudson Bay company was also great.

Bear Grylls is just brainless, manufactured rubbish.

********!

Watching one now where he's buried alive in snow simulating an avalanche. Scary stuff!

TBH that video sums up Grylls for me. Fake and taking unnecessary risks. However if you remember it's a TV show then it's all fine (if a little frustrating).

For example from just that short clip...

Why climb 200ft and endanger your life when you could just follow the track, even if it carries on for miles, which that one didn't incidently, when he got to the top you could see where it joined land again less than a mile down the track...

The the train scene, that wasn't set up at all... Especially the bit where he "jumps" out of the way of the oncoming train, it was much further behind them just before he jumped, would also mean the camera crew were faster than him, whilst still filming...:p
