Beef Wellington, Why?

Sometimes I like tea, ometimes coffee. Sometimes I like a Twix, sometimes a Mars bar. Sometimes I like a pastry covered fillet of beef, sometimes I like a ribeye. Never seen so much gatekeeping over a bit of beef before. wow.

Personally I think it's more about showing off your skill as a chef if you can properly execute the dry flaky pastry, perfectly cooked beef etc. without one or more of the elements being over or undercooked. A bit of a 'difficult for the sake of it' approach but that could/would impress people at a dinner party if they know it can be challenging to do.

A bit like a baked alaska is more impressive (and slightly more challenging to prepare) than just serving up some meringue and a scoop of ice cream.

As such, it's not something i'd go out of my way to pay for at a restaurant or anything.

I wouldnt pay for it in a resturant even if it was covered it salt , drizzled from salt baes hairy arms

Give me burger and chips or a normal steak or a chinese meal anyday

Saying that i find small portioned pretentious food much worse than something like this, atleast a wellington would probably fill you up,

A leaf on a plate covered in some asparagus with a truffle on the side wouldn’t do it for me

Im pretty sure i posted on these forums once when i discovered that oxtail was actually a tail of cattle (vom)

I thought it was just a name for a flavour

Just like the time i discovered steak and kidney pies actually contained kidneys (vom)

So, I’d like to introduce you to this meat called lamb.

was literally thinking the same. if you watch any cookery ooooh program and they doing it it seems to be more about the actual skill of cooking it right than the actual eating of it.

if you got a great cut of beef just eat the beef and stop messing about :D

You can find eating shows and there's loads of low budget content where there's little or nothing about the cooking but making a big show of the eating. Tends to be on the low end of the culture scale but it is what it is.
