Parents are a lot more clever than you think. I wouldn't of thought my dad would find some stuff on my computer, but he did.

Well he works for BT. I wouldn't be too dismissive of his technical literacy.

Either way, it was not BT who capped your download, so your slow speed must be caused by something else.

It could be but I very much doubt the correspondance (assuming the OP has the jist of it right) came from BT.

My dad doesn't know how to install a printer cd driver or an antivirus, i doubt he's found the wonders of search yet

BT recently decided to offer free broadband to its emplyoees instead of anual shares in the company, which works out to the same. This is the first time I have ever heard of BT taking note of what a user downloads, very unlikely to be honest, unless at the request of the police or the courts.
