this scares the hell out of me https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/...half-locked-no-conviction-crime-autistic.html

i am also autistic and that is making me **** bricks and i find it sickening.

massive disgrace tbh the poor guy ripped away from his family because some ned/chav guys took advantage of him and still been denied proper access to his family and locked up worse than people that murder.

can we get a fund raiser going for that guy?

one of the few times when a daily fail head line is accurate.

^ To get to the other side!

OP - dont read the Daily Mail.
that is actually a good article..... try reading it

a guy who has committed no 'crimes with the mind of a 6 year old has been locked up for most of his life, even you cant deny that is wrong. happening in great old blighty.

at least murderers and rapists can demand stuff this guy gets locked up in a room and fed through a damn spoon coming into the room. through a hatch........ and he committed no 'crime, just wtf

Be angry at the people that keep voting to dismantle our health and social care services.

Standard clickbait from the DM.

If he's got severe learning disabilities why did his mother let him hang around with a load of bad teenagers. It sounds like he got into trouble way too many times that the police were regularly involved, and eventually social services assumed parental responsibility for him. It was just a bit **** that they placed him in a mental hospital rather than some sort of assisted living - but again there may be reasons the DM are missing out that he's ended up in a mental hospital.

From the article it sounds absolutely terrible. But if they haven't been able to arrange social care for fifteen years then there is something else going on that the article has left out. What is it? I suspect there is another side to this story.

Someone representing him should sue the government.

I've noticed when I was at school, after secondary 'special' school there isn't much else going if you have a mental condition that stops you living the most basic life. They usually attend day care centres.

Though I've noticed after watching some videos about autism from two of the gamers I follow, the kids they look after can be very difficult emotionally at times. They can have routines and if it gets changed or someone reacts in an unexpected manner it can be really distressing for them.

There is no reason why he should be in a place like that. It's a well known fact that if you're in an institution, even a regular hospital, for a certain period of time then your mental health will start to suffer. It sounds like in this instance its a catch-22 situation because his mental health is suffering while being in there so then they will be less likely to release him.

This situation exposes how there doesn't seem to be any mechanism to get people out of these units. It's like I've said on other issues nobody is taking responsibility for doing their job these days.

Sue the government!

I would imagine this man has become unpredictably violent to the extent professional management in a secure environment is the least likely route to someone being sued if he injures or kills a member of the public. Frankly authorities can't win, lock `em up and someone moans, let `em loose and someone moans.

Governents get into office by winning the most votes and one obvious way is to be tough on crime and anti social behaviour. Doesn't look good if a mentally disabled person rapes, stabs or murders somebody. So get them off the street asap. I'm not saying it's ideal where he is but building a whole new complex to deal with his condition is probably very expensive and full of bureaucracy.

So this kid has a lot of issues, parents are a joke, he's got into a lot of trouble, nobody can control him, been assessed by countless professionals, and he ends up there.

And I'm supposed to be angry at this? No.
