Drunken badger punching
I'm organising something, and need some beer. Not loads and loads, but 20-30 bottles of quality stuff would suffice. I'm mainly looking at variations of Belgian blonde/brun beers and some english stuff such as Badger etc.

I'm sick of going to Tesco and finding that they still have the same stock as they did 2 years ago, it's all boring.

Are there any online beer merchants that will offer a saving over somewhere like tesco, and give me some good stuff for my money?

Supermarket beer is very cheap. If you're looking for cost savings then Supermarkets are your best bet in my experience.

Once you've paid for delivery I'd eat my hat if you could find a better deal online.

I think you're right. I've tried Beer Merchant, and whilst they have a good range of beer, they aren't cheap.

/keeps looking...

Have a look at sainburys, they seem to have a good choice

I've got to go shopping for other supplies anyway, so I will drop by there just incase they have any good offers on.

Waitrose are normally good, but expensive. Not sure about Asda though...

beersofeurope is quite good, but as someone said, quite expensive

failing that, Peroni is often on offer at the co-op.

Cheers for the ideas guys. I'll have a look at the links. As for Temple Meads, it's a couple of hundredish miles too far!

I had a look in Sainsbury's tonight, and there wasn't really anything worth buying, i.e. no good offers.

look on yell for a local home brew shop. They usually have a good amount of beer.

Or places like threshers. But more beer orientated.

Local booze shops.
Morrisons.

Though to be honest you'd be better off going to tescos.
How many people are you having, 30 bottles of beer might do 6 very light drinkers for a night.

And to all the beer elitists (acid), cheap lager isn't bad (provided it isn't real ****). And it has nothing to do with the social aspect, it's who you're drinking with whether it's ***** lightning or vintage champagne from the finest vinyards.

Don't touch Orval or Kwak, you have been warned.

I've never tried it, but now you've brought it to my attention....

Aldi have got wychwood beer for £1 a bottle :)

Sounds good! There's not an Aldi locally, but there is a Lidl. I haven't looked there for beer for ages and ages. I'll pop in this week some time.

Most places will have at least one nice cider.

Yep, that's what I found round here. One of my locals sells Old Rosie. Good stuff, but it will take your head off!

I'll probably buy some *cheap* beer-substitute stuff as a fill in, i.e. when all the good stuff has gone, and everyone's tastebuds have long lost their ability to tell water from wee/petrol/battery acid.

is there? do share..
Bristol Wine Company - It's on Victoria street so not a million miles from the train station. http://www.thebristolwinecompany.co.uk/

Even tho they mainly do wine, I go there for the cider, but from what I remember they had a fair few nice beers in there also... Not the cheapest place but they've got a lot of things you wouldn't find in Thresher/Tesco.

If you go there on a hot day it's great as they've got a fridge room in the corner you can go into and pick up a nice cool crate of cider/wine.
