The Vypyr is a better amp than the cube. Get it.
With regards to the guitar you'd do yourself a favor by getting a humbucker (2 pickups connected) pickup in the bridge position (closest pickup to the bridge)

I also recommend a guitar with a fixed bridge so you change strings easier.

Floyd rose - avoid like the plague for a begginner.Have you considered a Jackson Dinky? Very similar to a Strat, but slightly more suited to your musical tastes (22 frets, flat neck etc).
