Have a break, look for another female, if tou find said female, ditch old GF, if not keep old GF until you find a new female. Best of both worlds.

Had a break after a year of going out with a 19 year old (her call). After 18 months we got back together, we were both very different people (for the better). Just celebrated 10 years married. However you put it breakups or 'having a break' does suck but don't be strung along at someone's whim as you will get hurt.
Just follow your heart mate but to be honest most girls at 18 are pretty immature. If they're still a student then even more so. Work I find changes people a lot so may be best to call it a day and if it's meant to be you'll end up back together down the track.
