I've used it to sell low value items like old sofa's, beds left over bricks from my garage conversion (there was a high demand for these in 2020) and out of date computer hardware. I wouldn't use it for selling anything valuable, for anything half decent I would use Facebook classifieds or OCUK for computer hardware and payment via bank transfer or cash on collection.
 
Yeh eBay is ok for selling low value non electrical items.

For high value electronics it is scam city.

Looking at photos of PC components on eBay, it amazes me how much they are morons. Big fingerprints on the underside of a processor. Scratches all over a motherboard heat sinks and trim. Missing CPU cover. Graphics cards that look like the owner popped it in their pocket with a handful of gravel and ran a marathon. What are these people doing? All my PC hardware is immaculate. Not a scratch, not a dent, not a huge misplaced fingerprint. The same goes for everything else I own. Accidents are rare. These people, accidents are an hourly occurrence.

If I find something I want but the price is too high (or even ok) then I watch the item, it must alert the seller and they can send you a reduced offer. Seems to work ok in practice.
 
AS a seller do you have any comeback for incorrectly assembled and user damaged?

i guess it is a he said she said issue and ebay almost always side with the buyer........... but that sucks.

hope it is fixable.... however unless under heavy discount i know i would not want to buy a user repaird item tbh so even if you fix it, unless it is totally undetectable, you will likely still be out of pocket

(if i bought it unless it stated in the add as a user repair i would likely dispute it if the damage was visible)

Ebay have refunded him but from their own funds not mine after i explained the situation. On the case details they said it was because i received the item back not in the same condition i sent it which is correct. The fix seems fairly straightforward even for a luddite such as myself, basically it's a bit of disassembly, then glueing the base connector back into place, then reassembly. The manufacturer of the joystick have sent me a pdf with clear pics+instructions on what to do, there's only 3 or 4 steps.

I love messages like this "I am a <insert expert in whatever field/xx number of years old here>" you know its spotty teenager in their bedroom which are exactly the type of people attracted to these products unfortunately. Saw a message from similar on a modding forum saying they'd paid for premium downloaded xyz mods and were now doing a chargeback because "I'm not paying for premium". The response was enjoy your permaban and they're very well tracked/enforced. Idiots will be idiots.

Yeh, I don't really know how people end up scratching and damaging pc components so much.

I mean, they are carefully placed in and out of a motherboatd slot within a metal case , maybe a few times at most in their lifetime.

Unless someone has made a genuine mistake and dropped something, interior pc components should be spotless really.
