Belarus diverts Ryanair flight to arrest journalist

Russia's default stance is to blame the CIA somehow. Then send all the Putin bots to make comments on news sites. No one is convinced but they act like it's a genius move.

EU has imposed sanctions, banned Belarus airlines from EU airspace and won't allow airlines from EU countries to fly in Belarus airspace.
that'll learn em, they must be terrified especially with covid, it's almost like doing them a favour! can we hijack a plane too :D

some people only understand violence launch the cruise missiles

A country hijacking a plane at missile point is an act of war. That leader needs removing ASAP by any means necessary.

We need to do more then impose sanctions as that does sod all.

Its a vassal state of Russia, no one is launching cruise missiles at it over this. Yeah he needs removing and the population are trying but no way Russia lets any military action go unanswered.

Well that would probably be the last straw to push average Russian into rolling tanks into Eastern Europe. Would be a gift to Putin.

Remember, you attack Belarus by law you attack Russia.

Very unlikely. To think otherwise would be extremely far-fetched. Ryanair would be fined though since I think its a law to follow directions of ground control of the country airspace you are in

When there is a Mig fighter there threatening to shoot you down if you dont divert? Cant see Ryanair getting fined.

The Captain of a civilian airliner’s first duty to is to protect the lives of his/her passengers and crew. That means doing what the nice man in the fighter plane with all the guns and missiles flying alongside tells him/her to do.

Yup. Even without the threat from the MiG, if Air Traffic Control tells you there is a security threat to your aircraft and you must make a landing at X airport then you land at X airport. There's no blame on RyanAir here, and no blame for their pilot in particular.
