Another SC to come to Vettel's rescue :(

Before the Hamilton crash-o-rama, it looked like the red bulls were going to do 4 stops. Such a shame. Talk about luck!

Huh but alonso would have done 3 and he only did 2?

Alonso lost pace after the slow safety car period but I still think safety car or not vettel would have had more than enough pace in the car to win the race, after it it's not the first time alonso has lost pace in the 2nd half of the race.

Hamilton may have ran him close but it doesn't mean anything if he keeps making mistakes. None of that is vettels fault.

Vettel does seem to be getting the lions share of the luck this season though. Can't believe he hasnt had a single DNF yet.

How many would Hamilton have had if he could keep out of trouble? Vettel has done a good job of keeping his nose clean and pushing when required. He knows he no longer needs to race flat out, bring the car home on the podium and watch to see how Lewis shoots himself in the foot.

Surely, Hamilton must make a play to move to Red Bull, if only to rescue his career which appears to have stalled?
Some bloke called Vettel might say, "Nein". Red Bull could try and sign Lewis but then Vettel might get grumpy and find another team. Red Bull is pretty much Vettel's team so I can't see them signing Lewis, or anyone else likely to dominate Vettel, for that matter. Do Red Bull need Lewis? No. Does Lewis need Red Bull? Possibly, if he accepts McLaren can't give him cars fast and reliable enough to beat Vettel. But if Red Bull don't need Lewis and Lewis needs them, then Red Bull would hold all the aces. Why would they want to upset/unsettle their main driver just to have another fast driver in the team. The Alonso/Lewis season at McLaren might just make Red Bull weary of having a similar lineup in terms of talent and ego with Lewis and Vettel in the same team.

Nothing new their, the champion often seems to get more luck. It's the way of f1 and probably has much more to do with running at the front so avoiding incidences, more reliable car, faster car and such like. Rather than a mysteries luck force.

I really loved yesterdays race, Button was without a doubt the driver of the race, as once he had his overtaking done and just had some gap closing to do the race started to get a little boring, well until he caught Alonso.
If McLaren had to declare a number 1 driver we wouldn't automatically expect them to say Hamilton anymore. Hamilton is turning into a bit of a Kimi, very fast but unable to get the results, oh well at least he doesn't "settle" for a position like Kimi did.

I'm not hating. Just gutted (as with Monaco) that the safety car ruined a tasty ending. 600 people had nothing to do with Hamilton's idiocy, please stop bringing that one out when someone goes against the team in any way.

@dannyjo22.. Vettel had already done 2 stops for softs, and used the SC to get rid of his second set that were blistering like a ginger kid in the desert. Had the SC not come out then he would have had to push and change later on.

It was even mentioned in the commentary that it was effectively a "free" pit stop for Vettel.

What is annoying as usual is that had the Hamilton accident been the other way around, he would have gotten a penalty.

We also still don't know why he got a "reprimand" on Saturday, other than the FIA felt like it.

Was a good race yesterday and an excellent drive by Button and MSC!

I agree with you 100%, but that is part of racing.

When you have good strategists, you are able to take advantage of opportunities as and when they arise. A lot of this is down to luck as well and Vettel, at present, just happens to not only be a super fast driver, but also a lucky one.

Senna and MSc (first career) also had a knack of riding their luck.
