Create a multi-user HD home entertainment network through your electrical wiring. Imagine streaming flicker free HD movies, lag free gaming and more all at the same time. No need for special wiring, with Belkin’s Gigabit Powerline HD Networking Adapters, it is that simple.

Powered by Gigle Semiconductor’s mediaxtream™ chip, Belkin’s Gigabit Powerline provides a secure, stable networking signal anywhere in the home—even for areas that are hard to reach by wireless connections.

Because of its high Gigabit speeds and consistent connection, Gigabit Powerline reduces online gaming latency and provides large bandwidth, making it ideal for online PC gaming and ultrafast high-quality transmission of multiple video streams delivering content at 1000Mbps of speed.
Create an even stronger network by adding a third or more Belkin Gigabit Powerline HD adapters to your set up. This enables the Xtendnet feature that provides more stability and better performance, essentially making the network “self-healing.” The more adapters in your network, the more reliable the connection will get.

Setup of a powerline network is simple with its plug-and-play connectivity:
Plug one end of the Adapter into an available wall socket. Connect the other end to any device with an available Ethernet port (RJ45), such as a gaming console, set-top box, or computer

I know people who use simular kit, the only downside is when you have a few PC's and a bluray player connected, all the kit soon makes it a bit costly!

I have a few questions for anyone knowledgeable about networking stuff like this...

Is the connection between the two (or more) devices analogous to a hub? i.e., anything that goes into one device is received by the other device(s)?

If that's correct, could I connect one to my router and another to my PC (which is in another part of the house), to effectively create a wired connection to the router?

And, if that's possible, could I then connect the second device to a hub/switch, so that both my PC and my network printer could be wired to the router?

Thanks! :)

Here is an image that should help.

Basically if you have a power line connected to your router you’ll be able to connect as many other power lines throughout your house (making sure these are on the same electric circuit) It takes up to 300 Metres away from each other before they start getting poor quality speeds so you have to have one big house in order to suffer from using these. :)

Thanks! :) Presumably, you can only attach one of the devices on the right directly to the Belkin "plug", right? But could you insert a hub/switch between those three devices, thereby connecting all of them to the router on the other side of the house?

(In my case, I want to hook up my PC and my printer, which are sitting on the same desk. I'd like to get the PC off wireless, as it's unreliable; and I'd like to get the printer networked, so I can print from my laptop.)

Thats correct GS105 would be ideal as its gigabit.

Anyone thinking about it, do it. Powerline networks are great. Ok you don't get max speed. But you'll get more than enough. I got a set rated at 200mbps and it connects at 100mb.
Once you've used them you will never go back to cable or wifi.

So,
Do i need a wireless router aswell as this ? Or just wifi enabled computer/laptop?

Got an orange livebox at the minute if thats makes any difference to what i need to buy?

Due to wireless dropouts i got a set of these at the weekend. Connects at 100mbps so very happy.

For Silverback both the router and connected pc need a Ethernet socket.

Look online it will cost £100 just for the Kit without the router. Great price at ocUK. And thanks to the shop staff who sorted me with a lost Mobo jumper.

I have netgear HD 200mb sockets at present to stream from my router to my HTPC, works fine for DVD's but get jerky playback on Blu Ray.

Does anyone know if these will work better than the Netgear ones.

Also Fortune, if I was to buy them and find out they didn't perform any better than the Netgear, would I be able to return them under the your returns policy?

Thanks

Taff
