As some of you know, i run a hardware review site, and it's time to test some graphics cards.

Looking at games and applications to use i was looking at:

3dmark 06
3dmark vantage
arma 2
cod 4
crysis warhead
farcry 2
furmark
gta4
grid
stalker clear sky

I was going to test at 1280x1028, 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 to get a good comparison.

Would you run 3dmark06 and vantage at the higher resolutions or just at 1280x1024 as that is what most people run it at? Any games of applications that you'd take out, or add in?

its okay if you can you should do it across all three OS put windows 7 is a bit fun about sli i had my 9800gtx's and they worked fine but iam having massive problems with the 275's in sli so its a bit hit and miss:)

I would personally like to see benchmarks run at a higher res than an outdated non widescreen 1280x1024. Most gamers who buy the latest state of the art video cards generally have a half decent bigger screen nowadays at least 20" (1680x1050). Besides which, running at 1280x1024 is hardly going to push a half decent modern video card, and the benchmark becomes more CPU limited as oppose to really testing the GPU.

As for games to test, Company of Heroes is usually a favourite with reviewers?

Sadly, 3dMark06 only does 1280x1024 as standard unless you buy it.

Will add COH: Tales of Valour to my list too then.

And will test at all 3 res's.

very true but i find most people switching to 1920x1080 other wise called 1080p in the place of 1920x1200 so that would be a good res to run

Buy it then you cheapskate :p;), that's why people check hardware review sites, so they can see all the benchmarks without them having to buy benchmarking software themselves.

I didn't mean me, i've got it and vantage.

I mean other people if they want to compare :p

I prefer this resolution as I like to watch 1080P videos. More than just being the perfect resolution for that, it is the same aspect ratio (16:9 as opposed to 16:10). It's important if you are picky about such things, and don't want rescaling of the image.

In terms of general PC usage and gaming, I honestly can't tell a difference, though technically it is obviously very slightly inferior.

Would like to see this resolution used in more reviews.

3d mark is just bragging rights at the end off the day and who cares aslong as they pc can play all the latest games ?

I like to use Vantage to check that my system is running as it should and testing my overclocks (though admittedly there are more suitable applications for the latter).

i agree no reviews use it and its alway one iam intrested in because to get a 24 inch 1080p lcd is a lot cheaper than the 1920x1200 screens as you can get 1080p screens from 130-150 for a cheap one and if you want have any size screen you want and there is so little diffrence 120 pixels between ? who would notice that (at a 24 inch screen)

Something I always look for in a review is lowest fps, often reviews just give you the average which doesnt really tell you if its playable when for all you know it could dip in the 10's in the middle of a firefight

I guess norton ghost is descent

Trying Acronis but it's only workign as a bootable disc on one of my machines hmmm odd.

I will be showing, lowest and highest and average
