BENQ drive on the 360 loading GTA4 much slower.

This may explain why some of you guys have no issues with GTA4 load times and popup while other find it horrendous.

GTA4 caused my samsung drive 360 to RQOD on me and my replacement is a BENQ but it seems to load data a lot slower (hence quieter I suppose) and from research it appears I'm definitely not the only one. How annoying.

i'm in the same boat actually, RROD from GTA4 forcing a new purchase.

initially i had terrible popup and bad textures, especially the road, using my existing hdd used on my samsung 360. i decided to swap hdd to the new one i got with my Falcon 360 and start again fresh ....bammo no more poor textures or popup - but the BenQ is a lot slower than my Samsung was ...and a little noisier.

Well I know it's not my HDD as it was perfect after I swapped disc drives. It explains why my BENQ is so quiet if it loads that much slower than the samsung. Not many other games seem to be affected. CoD4 and Halo 3 have exactly the same loading times.

This proved to be a real problem for me with a backup disc of GTA IV. Textures took ages to load, making the game unplayable. However, with the real retail copy I haven't had much problems at all. My benq is also running at 8x instead of standard 12x.

I really wish we could have a hard drive to install the game on, like with the original xbox :)

This is retail on both drives. Backup GTA4 is affected in the same way.
