How reliable are these, on average? I don't seem to hear many stories of dodgy engines/drivetrains/electrics! They seem like a reasonable-to-run daily if you've got the cash :D

Im getting a warranty sorted from Bentley monday, put it that way.

Starter motor is 8.5k and the engine out.

Wiper motor 1600 quid it goes on, but **** it what a car :)

This thread is so funny, the way people are all over this like a rash despite previous "nah for footballers m8" type comments. Nothing like a good old bit of lack of experience with something, hopefully the meet will make people see WHY footballers buy them, because they are damn good cars :)

I'm a bit lost on that point. Housey and Firestar said they didn't like it, and Lucero's friend wasn't all that keen. Bar that, there has not been a negative thing said about the car? Unless the CGT has had previous stick on the forum?

Out of interest, what would you prefer for the budget?

If the budget is the bizarrely low £50ishK in this instance, I can't think of anything. Otherwise, of a similiar value 56 CGT, I could only think of CL63 AMG. If we can broaden the criteria and allow dropping the two rear budgie perches, SL for me. I'm well aware of the Bentley's strengths in comparison but the issues I have with it, it's weaknesses, I couldn't ignore. That said, the deal Mark got was obviously too good to pass up.

Is the wiper motor really that much!? From memory it think the entire job requires you to remove all of 2 screws (from the plenum cover), 2 nuts (from the wiper arms) and 2 bolts (for the actual motor). It's so simple even I could do it! :p

Rather a lot of components require the engine to come out. There has been far too many occasions where people take a day dropping the engine, literally a few seconds changing a sensor and then another day putting it back in :D. They aren't charging enough for the starter motor by the way, that is a hell of a job (even with the engine out!).

Did you ask about the coil campaign, mark?

I havent asked about anything as yet, when i dropped it off friday i told them to give it the relevant service (early) and have a look round.

On monday i am going to tell them to do the inspection for the warranty on top of the service and general check over.

Any recalls that havent been done they can tackle then.

What is the coil campaign by the way?

Very nice Mark, awsome engines and lovely interiors :)

Dad's Flying Spur is up for sale now at Bentley Birmingham, has been for about a week now. I'll be a touch sad to see it go I guess. It's the only car that's ever really given me that 'good lord has it got a Merlin Spitfire engine in it!' sort of feeling.

So if anyone is after an 07 Belluga Black Flying Spur with Portland Hide ...Bentley Birmingham have an immaculate one :)

Checking a car if it had any coils fitted other than the latest revision, and if not replacing them on the spot.

The early types have the occasional habit of... Well... Catching fire.

I don't think that it would affect a 07 car, but it's best to know for certain as it may be affected and somehow managed to slip under the radar.

Whats you're dad getting next?

I don't know, he's interested in the new F10 5 series and the new Z4. But he's not rushing to replace it at all, his wife has 2 cars (X5 and a C class, both 2009) so he'll just use one of those for the time being. It wont be anything in the same league as the Bentley that's for sure.

It does mean that for the first time ever, technically my Dad does not have a car and I do though, which is odd.

This came up at a price i couldnt refuse, also this last Cayenne was a bit of a let down to be honest, should have got another turbo instead of an S.

Very nice. :)

I'd imagine it will be quite hard to drive this on the motorway without speeding as you'd hardly feel you were going fast at 70mph!

Bit of bad news this morning, as of January its no longer possible to put a Bentley approved warranty on a car purchased from outside the dealer network :(

It turns out it needs the 4 year service at 2 grand and i told them to wire me up a battery conditioner for another 310 quid.

The remote control thing i found in an armrest is actually a "privacy phone" :)

I cant have the stupid tyre pressure sensors disabled :(

The lower mesh grilles are 1200 quid and not in stock.

I will post what was found after a thorough inspection tonight for those interested.

Forgot to mention for Fett, new overmats have been ordered too at 400 quid :)

Out of interest (Jez might be qualified to answer this), but how does the Conti GT compare to a MB CL65 in terms of build quality, waftability etc? I know they are competitors for their class, but would have trouble deciding between the two for my fantasy garage ¬_¬

Just reading back i'm quite interested in this "privacy phone" option, is this simply a built in car phone or does it offer things like car diag / car hijack options?

just writing to say GL to Diamondmark. :)

My dads considering a GT to replace his CL500 amg.
he's set on the B-GT or the new facelift CL63 AMGs.

reading this thread with interest. :)
