As the title says which is the best for gaming ? Not too fussed on size, I'm currently using a 24" which fits fine on my desk could probably fit another few inches

Not in stock here at the moment though. Beautiful display with great motion handling, a nice non aggressive anti glare coating and solid build quality that comes with a 3 year warranty with Dell of course. When I registered mine it showed the remaining warranty in days.

The only thing I wish it had was gamma control but it was still is my favorite.

Can't go wrong with the Dell.

I haven't tried it with this monitor due to not having a separate emitter. I have an Asus 27 inch 3d 120hz monitor which has the emitter built in but I haven't used the 3d feature for quite a while. It was great when I was into it though.

I can't quite put my finger on it to be honest. It's the size mixed with the build quality and look.

Very sophisticated and understated at the same time. It's very sleek and the bezels are very thin.

The dpi is high and the semi gloss like anti glare coating is fabulous. I have mine on an arm. It also seems easier to game on due to it being smaller. Edit: The anti glare is light matte and not semi gloss, my mistake.

Care to elaborate what makes it special ?

Seems like you're all pretty unanimous on the Dell though, thanks for the replies

It doesnt have the same issues as its bigger brother the S2716DG had (i have owned that as well, i believe some issues with the S27 was fixed on later revisions). The PPI is perfect in my opinion, i can see the text clearly from a meters distance, then again my girlfriend has to stick her nose all the way onto the screen before she can read the clock so i guess that comes down to personal preference and what your eyes allow. Blur is minimal, haven't seen any obvious overshoot(havent used ULBM yet). The coating on the screen is perfect matt without any grainy/hazy look to it on white. Colors are good for a TN but surely doesn't pop the same way a proper IPS panel would. Blacks are a little weak on my unit but only during the evening/night time and it's not annoyingly bad, as in i dont really think about it when i game or do desktop work.

as previous posters have said the gamma once sorted and calibrated the s2716dg is very much a good purchase mine is an A03 revision believe that the A04 and A05 are even better . Bought it in October 2016 was a may 2016 build .At present the pricing from most suppliers is good.

Thanks it seems the 27" is worse than the 24"

no it's not read it again.

"The S2417DG does not suffer from very obvious overshoot ghosting like the 27" (especially when looking at black on white/scrolling text), and has better preset color accuracy and less banding, plus it only comes with a light matte coating while the S2716DG can if a A00-A03 revision. A sticker on the back of Dell monitors indicates the manufacturing date and revision."

ghosting is when looking at scrolling black text on a white background (no not an issue for gaming or watching videos etc. or 90% of usage). in facy i have never seen this on my screen at all.

better preset color accuracy - easily fixed by calibrating the monitor which you should do anyway for any monitor especially if your dropping 500+ notes on one.

less banding - well bigger screens does usually mean more banding however i haven't seen any banding at all on my 27".

revision AO4 here and the coating looks superb

24" monitors these days are just far too small IMO. 27" seems to be the right size. if i buy in future i will deffo be looking at either 30"+ ultra widescreen or 27" minimum. my mate uses a 49" 4K TV for instance with his pc.

I wouldn't go near a TN panel monitor, that Dell would be straight out of the window.

Come back when you've used both (I've had the PG278 and 279 Swifts), the modern TN's are far better than the old crappy ones.

If you value a more responsive screen over one with a little better colour and viewing angle then the Dell will be great. Both have their strengths and weaknesses imo.

I'm in the market for a new monitor and this Dell 27" looks like a great price for potentially a great monitor.

Will I regret not buying a 4K monitor though? As I only use my PC for gaming I guess 144hz refresh for 1440p/gsync is much better?
