Best 1920x1080 around £150?

It's the same with any make of monitor be it Dell, Samsung, etc,

Actually you'd be surprised there can be differences, depending on make and model. See Digital Versus for info. Particularly good articles are the 22" monitor survey and 23 - 28" monitor survey. It even recommends that refresh rates can sometimes be misleading as better panels will give you better results. Panels with similar specs can also give better/poorer results depending on other factors such as backlight bleeding, colour and contrast qualities.

most people would not now the diff between 5ms and 2ms. We have 4 monitor's Sam 24" SM2433BW 1920x1080>5ms, Sam 22" SM2233BW 1680x1020>5ms, LG Flatron W2261V 22" Widescreen 1920x1080>2ms, Sam 20" SM206BW 1680x1020>2ms and l bet you could not guess what the refresh rate is if you used any one of them, maybe by luck!

You probably would, if you are use to using a better panel and suddenly switch to a slightly poorer panel, it can be noticeable depends on what your doing and how your using it. VA and IPS panels with higher response rates can sometimes perform better than TN panels with lower response rates

So despite your extensive lists of various monitors you haven't actually used the Dell S2409W. There isn't a extensive review that compares this monitor to any make that i know of or read about so the next best thing is getting 1st hand experience from a owner that does, hence my question.

Played..

TF2
L4D
Aion
Lost Planet

All look fantastic

Also hooked up the 360 via HDMI and this looks very nice.

Played GoW and Arkham and no problems in sight.

Damn I just don't know what to buy!

On one hand there's the e-IPS 22" 1680x1050 Dell and on the other there is the 24" 1920 x 1080 TN panel.

Is the e-IPS worth it over a TN bigger screen and higher resolution?

AAGGHHHHH lol

This is on the S2409W right?

yup he has two of them

Yep got em recently, just what I was looking for.
I've been watchin a lot of TV and movies on them too.

Im also liking the matte finish, I now realise how
annoying the glossy finish on my old monitor was lol

I won't be going back to glossy finish screens thats for sure xD
Im guessing theyre also gonna be a lot more forgiving on the odd finger print too ;)

Mine aren't too stable atm as I've got them sat on empty DVD cases lol
Theyre a few mil too low to go either side of my amp so need to nab a coupla pieces of black perspex or something to sit them on :(

I've not even had to mess about with the settings, the default of graphics has seemed fine to me for majority of the time.

I moved from a single 22" to dual 24" the HD res and the screen size seem a good compromise, as I had no issues with my previous monitor I was fairly open to another TN based panel.

Sorry to hijack the thread but im in a simular situation.

I only use mine for gaming

FPS mostly too

When playing games do you notice any input lag? I’ve played on a couple of monitors, not mine and I’ve seen noticeable lag. E.g. you move the mouse and half a sec later the pointer on the screen moves. I know that’s an extreme case, but i'm just making sure that I make the right choice. :)

This is getting very confusing now lol, although that is a good point. Are there any good review sites for monitors?

If you haven't noticed in my earlier post, on page 1 i have included links to digital versus articles which basically reviews some of the popular monitors around. But doesn't include the Dell S2409W unfortunately :(

lol Just tell me

Dell 2209WA

Or

Dell S2409W

When you get one can you let us know what it is like. :D

I did have a look, but like you said no S2409W.

Can I also join the Dell 2209WA or Dell S2409W club?

I'm coming from a Dell 2005FPW so that makes me think of the 2209WA and the height adjustable stand & USB ports might swing it.

Waiting for this weeks specials to help me decide.
