Best Android tablet out there??

Transformer Prime by miles!!

The "crippling issues" thing is rubbish ... I have one and it's spot on!

Only a small minority of early tablets had problems and ASUS is being very proactive in addressing those.

Doesn't the higher end Prime fix these issues? And with a 1920x1200 resolution... it's insane! Not out till next month though...

The Prime 700 will not be out next month. Maybe June. But certainly not next month.

It's not a "fix" for the TF201, just another model that they had always planned on releasing.

Glad you like it, I couldn't recommend it to anyone personally though.

You'd be mental to buy one now with the 700 details that have been revealed.

The 700 is also going to be at least £100 more expensive if not £200. Once it's out they'll have three tablets out covering all the bases.

It's like saying anyone buying an iPad2 is mad since the iPad3 is almost certainly coming out in March/April. The device is still capable.

While I don't doubt that the new Prime is going to be the business (albeit I'm not sure a 1080 resolution is really warranted on such a small screen!), its still going to be mad expensive and most probably out of my price range! :(

So in the meantime, the Sony or the Xoom are looking the favourites!

Can anyone comment on the media capability of the Sony? A tablet that won't play most (read all!) video formats isn't going to be too much use to me!

The Xoom, is or is getting 4.0 soon isn't it?

That is defo going to be able to play all formats. :)

I would personally avoid tegra2 tablets unless you like transcoding video files. Though the problem might be solved usjng a third party player

Really??

I need/wanted a tablet now ... not in (at least) 6 months ...

And also £100 more expensive?? And I don't need or want the higher res screen.

So.. no thanks - I'll take my Prime which is working great! I haven't even turned on GPS yet because I have zero use for it on a WiFi tablet ...

Any and all tegra2 tablets will suck at playing mkv (high profile h.264) as it doesn't have a native hardware decoder.

The Transformer Prime HD when it comes out :-) (although reading that you actually have a budget now lol). What is your max price then?

So what you are saying is all these "media tablets" are effectively rubbish at playing media??? Doesn't the Android market allow you to use any third party media player like it does on phones?? (eg. I use MX Video Player on my Galaxy S2 - is it the player or the phone that has the relevant codec support????)

I think I'll struggle to go above £300 tbh!
