Best Anti-Virus Software

Ok, i have seen a previous similar post to this one, but I have been having some problems with anti-virus software and i urgently need to buy a new one. I could really do with your opinions ;)

My main problem is that i need software that will automatically scan flash drives when there are inserted. I also need the ability to download updates to my installation or download a pack so that i can update computers which do not have an internet connection.

Doesn't seem to scan flash disks, maybe newer versions do but it hogs resources slower systems.

Seemed very good, easy to use, can download update packs, schedule it to do many different scans, didn't seem to scan flash disks on insert though.
The biggest problem with it was that although i set all computers to do various scans throughout the day, for some reason it did not detect the W32/Rungbu-A virus which infected most of our computers - very annoying virus that hides word docs and replaces them with a file with the same file name but with a *.scr extension - I clicked one yesterday :(
Also the firewall or something seemed to be slowing my connection :confused:

Installed a trial of this on the infected computers yesterday and was very impressed, it detected the virus, spyware and more, it picked up flash drives and has the ability to export definitions to folder after i have updated my copy or download packs.
I was wondering though, how many computers can i install this on, if they weren't networked could i install them on all, but then if i connected them to the network, would copies stop working? I don't have a lot of money so can't afford say a corporate or enterprise version.
Does anyone know what Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 is like, firewall any good?

I downloaded this but have not installed it as i couldn't find any update packs online.

When you insert a flash drive on an XP machine, XP scans the files to see what is present and brings up its 'choose what to do' type list. Most (all?) AV scanners are set up by default to monitor most filetypes as they are accessed, effectively scanning the drive for you.

Oh, and NOD32 is by far the best :) Highest detection rates & scan rates, lowest resource usage.

Do you know if it would do this for Win 2k?

And most importantly, can i update it offline?
 
Are updates possible with NOD32? Or do i have to install to find out :(

Installed Norton 360 today, god it's nasty, designed for old people i think :rolleyes: An hour on my computer was long enough!

Cant help you regarding KIS, but I tried both NOD32 & Kaspersky AV and their both just as good as each other. I eneded up buying Kaspersky purely on I liked the interface more.

Kaspersky can be installed on 1 pc only.

The computer I'm using at the moment is using Kaspersky Internet Security 6 and I'm very impressed with it :) Updates are available 99.9% of the time I check, it's low on resources to :D

EDIT: I updated the database an hour ago and there's another update already :D

Tried the AOL version of Kaspersky, thought it was crap. When installed. I logged on to my user and every single process running would crash. So that got binned straight away.

Used both NOD32 and Kaspersky, In my oppinion i have found that kaspersky pics up more on this PC that what NOD32 does. Resources are very minimal on both products thats an added bonus.

However you can install it on one machine only.
 
the protection software i have on my PC:

Windows Firewall (which is actually disabled :o )

thats it.

The best antivirus/spam/malware/spyware/adware program is your brain.
never click on "Free pr0n here" adverts or "Download these smileys from smiley central" and only open emails from people you know, even (well... especially) if they have your name in the subject!).
in my opinion, NAV takes up wayyyy to many resources, AVG Free Edition is perfectly fine and my recommendation to anyone that feels they need it.

Just for clarification, i haven't had a virus since i was 8 (and even that was my sister installing bloody zango games :mad: ) and had 2 peices of adware in my whole life.... beat that :D

Wow not had a virus since you were 8 ! i hada virus over xmas ,i took Lem sip it works wondrs lol :eek:
