Best Anti-Virus Software

Another nod32 user here, have not tried Kasperky yet, but plan to when nod subscription runs out, as it seems like 50/50 between the 2.

Personally i love nod32 because i never notice its running, and i can't say the same for any other AV i've tried.... and its great at doing its job.... unlike mcafee and norton which have failed me more then once in the past.

£23 or so a year is a bargain compared to subscription costs and the crappy bloated software you get from the other companies (minus Kaspersky, yet to test remember).

I tried Nod32 after reading about it here, and i'm recommending it to anyone i know who asks about Anti-Virus, i've yet to recieve a 'help my pc looks up or has a virus' phonecall since suggesting it, so that in itself is a good thing for me.

Do Kaspersky do a Trial?... i'm recently formatted and could test before nod32 goes back on.

Yes, there's a 30 day trial before choosing whether to purchase a serial number.

Great i'll give that a whirl before nod32 goes back on, just hope i don't like it more..... or i'll be kicking myself all the way to the end of subscription...... still can't fault nod32 though, its perfect for me......

Just want to see if Kaspersky can impress me more....

If i wasnt too worried about losing data i could purposely lob viruses at it to, but naaa,........ thats too much reinstall time if it misses something...... lol no one likes reinstalling..... thats just well ..... like watching paint dry....

Well first scan and i find 5 viruses hiding in my system restore files.....

However, i'm leaving them there and installing Nod32 to see if it the results match....

Anyone here had experience running Kaspersky and Nod32 at the same time, i'd prefer to keep one on at all times now i know i have infected files.

Perhaps the files were destined to be infected so i could test Kaspersky.... lol :D

or maybe Kaspersky just hates system restore and wants to bugger it up for you :D

Nod32 4TW

DO NOT RUN TWO AT ONCE!

*sigh* I work in tech support for an anti-virus company and the amount of numptys I see installing two or more AV products on their machine and then running into horrible problems is a frustrating daily experience. Install one... and one only at any time.

Annother vote for Nod32 here. Its done me well in the past year - a good friend reccomended it to me. It does eveything i want it to do - Doesnt get in the way and uses little memory.
I remember having norton a couple of years ago and it was horrible, stupid large text boxes when i went to use it.

What company?

Ok the viruses don't seem to be active, have left them where they are and they havnt started up any random exes or caused problems, hence why they went unnoticed to begin with.

Think i'll remove Kaspersky and stick on nod32 and see if it picks them up to.... it best do!.... my subscription hasnt run out yet... :D

Best it just to use up all the free trials of all of them. That way you are being legal and not having to pay even a penny!

And screwing up your machine but by bit by installing so many different AV's in quick succession. The amount of crap tyhey leave behine after an uninstalll is ridiculous... make sur you go to each vendors website and download a specific, dedicated removal tool for each one and don't even think of installing the old one until you've gonhe through your rig with a fine tooth-comb and all traces of the previous AV are gone.

*weeps at how people treat their expensive PC's*

It's an endangered animal. :D

I may get flamed here but I dont use AV at all...is there a need to now? I've tried loads of them - zonealarm SS, Avast etc. they just seem to always slow down the machine....

AVG - super light on system resources. I have tried many others else, even the 'best' virus scanners and AVG is still the one that is very easy to use & quick.

That's because it doesn't do anything :p
