Best Bacon?

I make my own bacon, you'll not easily get a better product! Curing salts from Weschenfelder, quality meat from my local butcher, and a cold smoke generator to use in my 57cm Weber BBQ gives the most amazing bacon!
I've over salted mine before, to the point it wouldn't even freeze :/

I rarely eat bacon now, although I do like the odd crispy treat to add to a skinny burger.

Fortunately most smoked stuff does the job, I've taken to cooking them in the air fryer during the process of cooking the burger and they generally come out quite well. I've never personally been able to tell much of a difference between supposed brands, cuts certainly but a pig is a pig in my mind and I honestly don't eat a lot of pig related meat in general.

I live in a rural farming community and the best meat i have ever tried is always direct from the farmers

I know one that specialises in Pork and its all really good although they tend to use a lot of salt in sausages

I haven't got a go to brand, do like a decent quality thick bacon for breakfast, one where the fat is edible.
A streaky bacon for chopping and frying into a dish.
The oven method works well for burger topping if you place another same sized baking tray on top, so the bacon lays dead flat. This results in straight and crispy bacon.

I really did enjoy the thick bacon I had during breakfasts in North Wales recently, as down South it is usually super thin.

Best bacon I've had so far is from https://www.sillfield.co.uk/ their sausages are amazing too. Ordered loads of meat from them back end of last year after seeing how they went about making their traditional cumberland sausage.
I really miss Sillfield bacon - they used to have an outlet in Borough Market years ago, and I've not found anything as good since they left.

I know you can order online, but I don't get through enough bacon to justify the delivery fee for an online order, and if I order loads it'd just end up sitting in my freezer long enough to get freezer burn and need chucking out.

Streaky bacon, but for some reason it's not as good in the UK
Maybe they use a different part of the animal in Swiss/Germany

I've switched from bacon in the morning to sizzler steaks from Sainsburys - get's my my protein kick and is much more healthy. When I have bacon though, it's smoked back bacon from Saino's and they usually import from Denmark I think.

For supermarket stuff, Jolly hog is usually pretty good. Waitrose Denhay is good. Their essentials line is too, if you flick through the packs to find one you like.

Obviously a decent butcher will have much better stuff, but not all butchers are decent!

Bit of a thread bump but my parents left me a packet of Thorner's oven baked ham they weren't going to use in time and it is really really good, albeit doesn't like to stay together in slices. Makes me wonder what their bacon is like - unfortunately doesn't seem easy to get hold of.
