You cant get a decent Civic for £3k.
I spent weeks looking for one for my son a couple of months ago, the decent ones start at 4.
Surely with a lot of the old, high mileage cars being suggested here you'd be better keeping that money for repairs on existing? Pending how uncomfortable you find the current car.
Do cars get a lot better at 3-4k? I was hoping for something tasty! (altho I won't be re-buying for a while I hope..)
Maybe if you want ‘low mileage’, but a friend of mine recently bought a 56 plate Civic in decent overall condition for about 2.3k.Focus.

Generally I want a reliable car with decent mpg and low tax.
My 2001 Focus does 40+mpg and costs about £180 a year to tax.
Worst case I'll keep the car. It owes me nothing.

I was very pleased with my Civic, £3100 for an 06 plate, one owner from new, 42k miles with full service history, last year. Fairly certain that was a decent deal...
Solid car, reliable and nice to drive, though I do think it is little thirsty....

Paid £1500 for mine and it hasn't let me down. They're not new cars anymore so they're not exactly expensive. Did have to travel for that price but still, wasn't difficult to find.Focus.
