Best Chat App?

Just installed apatch, bloody love it :D

Does anyone know of a way to make MSN show user's display pictures in the contact list as opposed to the little green figure? It's something that should be in the basic options, I'm probably just missing it :\

Ah, not sure if there's an option to do that - unless I too am being blind lolzers..

Just because your username starts with a Z doesn't mean you have to literally find everything after everyone else! :p

pretty sure the Mess Patch can do that ;)

Dunno about apatch, but I use Messpatch and it has the option to display pics next to contacts. You do however have to enable detailed contact view.

Click the sort contacts button in MSN and select detailed view.

Oh, BTW. It's an option whilst installing mess patch, not an option you can enable/disable whenever you want.

Both Pidgin and Digsby can have User avatars next to their names, small or big :) Its an option, not an add-on/hack.

+1 for Pidgin, or MSN + Apatch when you need the extra whistles. Pidgin has a nice little plugin that gives 4096 bit encryption for those chats you really want to keep between yourselves. As a privacy freak, I dig that :D You just click "use encryption", tell it how big you want the key to be (up to 4096 bit) and that's it. Forever more talking to that contact is totally secure, as easy and transparent as that. Provided they also have Pidgin and the plugin of course lol.

EDIT - Oh btw, I know it was sort of inferred in more recent replies but nobody actually said it out loud for those who don't know. Pidgin is NOT a Linux-only client any more, they have a Windows download (which comes bundled with the compulsory GTK install) which works just as well as the Linux version. I love it!

Yeah webcam support of all the multi protocols is hazy at best, i think it requires a lot of coding to make sure it works with all the protocols. If you want webcam support your only real sensible choice i guess is MSN with apatch installed, or aMSN (if that has webcam support).
