Best Command and Conquer Game?

For me its Generals - Zero Hour

My favourites too, must have played Generals and ZH for over 6 months solid at the time, still play them both now. Had my moneys worth out of them thats for sure:D

Has to be the original Red Alert - a bit more polished than the original C&C imo, was a nice balanced game and had a good story behind it.

 at the heathens that think Generals: ZH is the best C&C game.... its not even proper C&C! Granted ZH is a good game, Generals should have been that in the first place, but its not the best.

 At the C&C bores.

I've played them all at their relative times of release (both pc and ps1), and can honestly say that I personally enjoy Generals the most. I played Tiberian Sun to death when it came out, same as both the Red Alert titles, but it's only Generals that keeps bringing me back over five years later.

For me, it's the one game that EA actually got right.

For me they go in this order:

C&C
RA2
RA
C&C:3
Generals
C&C:2

Whilst the gameplay may have been a little basic, the original Command and Conquer is still the best. When I first played it I'd never seen anything like it before. The cutscene's really made the game, allowing the player to totally feel like they were inside that world. One of my all-time favourite gaming moments is Kane's entrance, a prime example of why its top of my list.

It was a tough choice to put Red Alert 2 second, as it too had the same quality films inbetween the action. It also has what I think is possibly the best gameplay of the series. It had a great range of units, especially with the Yuri's Revenge add-on, and they weren't overly complicated either.

The original Red Alert has my favourite intro. The first time I heard that marching music I couldn't stop grinning and looking forward to blowing stuff up. I played it quite a few times before I stopped watching the intro every time I turned it on.

C&C:3 and Generals have been enjoyable to play, but to me the key to the C&C series has always been the simplicity. All the special powers and extra options seem a bit too much to me. I want my tanks to shoot and enemies to die, not be clicking on one special power to get them to do something, then click on another one to call in a fairly pathetic airstrike or something.

And lastly Tiberean Sun. What a dissapointment. To me it was always missing something, the gameplay lacked that spark and the storyline was too cheesy even for the world of C&C. I didn't enjoy it and I've only played it through twice, and the second time was only because last year I found out how to get the resolution up to current sizes.

PK!

RA2. I managed to make a map that took my mate 6hours to cplete against a computer AI.

Loved it... bring back the old days :(

RA2

Anyone who think Generals and ZH etc is good, has no clue!

I've been playing C&C since the first one and I've gotten every expansion (except Kane's wrath). Generals and Zero Hour are my favorite. Tell me sunshine what is it I don't have a clue about?

do you have that map still? :)

i've uploaded the official map packs for RA2 to here..

and i've put the no-cd patch + crack up there -without it, the game takes AAAAAGES to load in XP & Vista (i see it as a patch for xp, not a 'crack' as such)

I know this is in the Windows section, but for me the best C&C game was Retaliation on the PS via link cable. Not a big fan of C&C, but playing this against a mate was awesome. Especially when compared to the PC at the time of 56K multiplayer...I don't think I even had the net back then TBH!

I much prefered Total Annihilation though.
