Best cpu for 1080p60fps ultra

Nothing is guaranteed ever...
At the end of the day, we live in the present and we can only really base things on known quantities. Everyone has a future they want to project onto someone else, that doesn't make it the truth though
This is so true. I really do not like to see posts stating what will be even in a years time etc.

Yeah, for 1080p 60FPS you will need an 8700k, why not get a Titan V as well for your mid range gaming pc.
This must be sarcasm as you definitely do not NEED an 8700K for 1080p60. Either of the previously mentioned 1600 or 8400 will more than suffice. 1080p60 is just bog standard nowadays with many gamers either doing 120+ fps or 1440p or higher.

According to the steam survey only 3.5% of people at 2560x1440, and only 0.23% using 3840x1440 as well.

Glad you edited your original comment that I got in the email alert. ;)

Like I said 1080p60 is just bog standard nowadays with many gamers either doing 120+ fps or 1440p or higher. Or to put it another way how many are playing at LESS than 1080p60?

Can't tell how many on 60fps or 120fps monitors, but the info for steam survey is here >> http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/?platform=pc

73% of people still using 1920x1080, then there's definitely 10% of people using their 32"+ televisions for gaming and that's showing the biggest increase. This doesn't include the number of people playing mmorpgs such as WoW, EverQuest, League of Legends etc which will be huge and the players on the latest Battlefield and other Origin games.

Although Steam is probably not the metric I would use it does still back up my statement that 1080p60 is bog standard.
There is also the Multi-monitor steam chart which also supports that notion.

What's the significance of 1366 X 768? Is that like a common laptop res?
Yes, it is a standard laptop res over the past 8 years. I have an old Dell Inspiron with the same res with Intel HD graphics. I have not seen a gaming laptop with this resolution so it is not generally used by 'gamers'.

The next highest percentage is 1440p which will be more likely a gamers resolution. though I have this resolution (actually 1600p) and I would not consider myself a 'gamer'.

Older 32" - 40" flat screen televisions have 1366 X 768 panels in them as well. A friend of mine whose PC I setup as a HTPC / light gaming rig is using that resolution with a Toshiba 32", still using the same setup six years later.

Just found the OcUK invoice for it, running with an AMD Athlon FX-60 CPU lol.
