As someone who watches football week in and week out, I feel I can have a good say in putting Distin in that XI.

Jagielka was dropped so that Heitinga could have a first-team chance, and Distin was also part of the team which had the 3rd best defence in the league.

Distin was easily my player of the year last season.

Skrtel was horrendous for most of last season, all Liverpool fans do it - one player has one or two good games and he's their Messiah.

Get real.

Parker was great last season. I hope to see good things from Lucas this season.

There's not the quality there was in the prem a few seasons back though.

I agree that Skrtl is pants, but to balance that with Distin :/

You seem to forget that Distin was one of the only players to actually keep his place in the back four which finished 3rd in the goals-conceeded league.

The amount of time he's tracked back and saved us this season is uncanny.

Skrtel is one of the most overrated players I've seen.

What about all the goals he cost you? You claimed to have only seen him have one bad game but as I said above, he was **** in all 3 Derbys this season, responsible for 4 goals across the 3 matches.

In the FA Cup derby he saved us about 4 times on the run up to that backpass.

Jagielka tends to have poor derbies and Distin is having to make up the space.

Skrtel has been so poor this season, it's not even funny.

When did Distin save you in the FA Cup game. As well as the **** up that lost you the FA Cup tie, he ****ed up an easy clearance gifting Suarez his goal at Goodison, put in a half arse tackle that lead to Gerrard's first at Anfield and allowed Suarez to walk past him for Gerrard's 2nd at Anfield.

And to say Skrtel has been poor this season is beyond funny.

He's been utter ****.

Distin is by and large very good, if you only watch some games all players have bad games, bar no one in the league. Distin has been absolutely excellent most of his time in this league. is he the best around, who knows, everyone over rates their own defenders, I've seen smeg all in Skrtel's time in the league that suggests he's good, and beyond Liverpool fans I never see anyone rate him. Too many people rate Vidic because he wins titles, when a guy resorts to rugby tackles FREQUENTLY, he isn't doing particularly well, also when he constantly fouls in the box and gets away with it.

Distin would get rated FAR higher if he played for a top 4 side, and he's definitely better than the likes of Evans, Mertesacker, probably Alex(no longer at Chelsea but meh).

Same goes for Lucas, no where near as good as Liverpool fans think(wait's for the "but you don't watch him so you wouldn't know", no, he's just not that good, its simply SO **** for years season that marginal improvement and fans go overboard, Song, Denilson, Evans, Fletcher, Carrick, etc, etc). Song is third on the list and hasn't played in the DM role as first team for Arsenal for 2 years, and before that he was horrendous at it..... FACT Arteta played deeper than Song every game he played with Song this year, fact, we didn't win a game without Arteta till the last game of the season with the vast majority of those fairly few games Song filling in at DM and being abysmal, year before it was Wilshire.

Parker/Tiote are the only options for this season, anyone who voted otherwise are mental, Tiote had the better season, Parker was better last year, both are excellent and neither are remotely as limited as some like to say "parker never goes forward and can't pass", if you said anything along those lines, you haven't watched him play.

What a retarded point to put across after checking this i wondered what you were trying to put across.

Liverpool conceded 40 and so did Everton so your 3rd positions is irrelevant.

Skirtel started 33 EPL games while Distin started 24 so I am wondering of the two who best kept his place in the back four.

Even if you checked all the other statistics Skirtel out scores Distin but you saying the later is far better than the former is indeed laughable.

I personally think Mikel will be top of the pile come the end of the season, he transformed as a player towards the end of last season :)
