Best Developers & game Creators in the world?

Assuming we are talking PC Gaming, Im going with Blizzard. Played most of their games and Ive never disliked any of them.

Never played Valve games, but Ive only heard good things about them.

There was a time when I would have had Bioware at the same level as Blizzard, but SWTOR really showed me how far behind they are as developers. Still the best CRPG storytellers though imo.

Only one now for me and that is Blizzard.

It's the only company I'm prepared to pre order ( 2010 Diablo 3 ) and I usually go for the CE editions if possible. ID used to be up there until Rage.

With regard to Valve. I love Steam but can't stomach their games. For some reason all the HL games make me feel sick.

I've actually got to agree completely Blizzard and Valve are probably two of the best "AAA" developers in my book. They're the only one's I can think of that take a no compromise attitude to development. "When's the game coming out? Whenever the **** it's ready".

Agreed - you could argue that if Bioware/EA had taken the same attitude towards SWTOR, wouldn't be losing subscribers at the rate it is.

Can't dispute any of the choices given in this thread, although going back to the early days, I think David Braben and Ian Bell deserve special mention. It still stuns me how they managed to fit a game of the complexity of Elite into a woefully underpowered (by modern standards anyhow) machine like the BBC Modlel B.

I think Bungie are pretty awesome, always communicated with their fanbase well with weekly updates and vidocs and the like. Not to mention the stat tracking website they ran for the Halo's was pretty damn good and all free of charge. Will be interested to see what they do next.

Best Marketing - EA. I do like Blizzard trailers though, and also Relic (Dawn of War etc)

Best Quality Polish Tough call, as there is both technical polish and 'game' polish (lore, continuity etc). I'll go with Infinity Ward, the CoD games have that cinematic feel that many games fail to produce. Remedy would be there for the Max Payne games, but they haven't really brought enough to market.

Best Download System Valve - but only due to market penetration, I actually think Steam downloads have many flaws currently (unable to stop it pausing when you launch a game, unable to queue downloads, unable to remove partially complete downloads even if you have the game set to not update, unable to schedule downloads, have to restart to change download server etc etc)

innovate ideas Bullfront/Lionhead - Peter Molyneux often under-delivers on the execution side, but his creativity is inspired.

Account Integration All the developers that don't use it.

Gameplay I can't choose here, based on the 1990s it would be id software but they seem to be more of a technical studio these days

Length Bioware - KOTOR/ME/DA are of decent length

Story Bioware again

Optimization id software. Q3 engine scales fantastically well, and they were also the first mainstream developer to give us console access and lots of cvars to tweak

Dedication Not a trait I value particularly highly, maybe CD Projekt for post-release support for The Witcher games

Anyone but Blizzard.

I would have still said id had not Rage been utterly ****, and Quake Wars and Wolfenstein for that matter.

Can't think of a single games company that hasn't gone out of business or been ruined that I would buy a game simply because it's by them.

Surely Best Polish would be CD Project? right? (boom boom :p)

I appreciated this even if everyone else is going to ignore it:)

Valve would edge it for me, as they have never made a game that I haven't thought was quality. Oh and I love Bethesda, even if they do release really buggy games

Valve springs to mind instantly.

But no love for Tripwire?

They are a very small company, who are the developers behind Killing Floor and Red Orchestra. They listen to the community and brings us changes, fixes and new content based on user feedback.

Killing Floor has had numerous free DLC packs as a thank you for playing their game.. most recently after 1M sales, it's rare we see 'free' DLC these days.

HiRez also doing a brilliant job with TA.

LOL

Not with Red Orchestra 2 they didn't and had one hell of an attitude problem for a developer

Really? I didn't follow RO2 much.

But I thought they added a 'hardcore' mode which was added due to people requesting it.

Also: http://www.heroesofstalingrad.com/2...ty-feedback-on-potential-changes-to-the-beta/

Not to mention they do Beta testing with the community, and actually allow you to test the game with them.

Maybe i missed something. :p

They didn't request it it was forced apon them by the massive amount of complaints from the community, they did beta testing because of the amount of complaints at the lackluster developers who released a game WORSE than the beta itself. The beta was the far better version so they just told everyone to stick to the beta while they tweak it here and there

Interesting, you'd think people would just loose interest, quit playing and stop caring.

I know a small company such as Tripwire can't afford to **** off their customers.

Interesting how things change..

WE did, the servers are pretty much dead! what you see filling up most servers are Bots.

If Blizzard are top publisher and developer for WoW, then I would include CCP into the election for their continued development support of Eve Online and FREE enhancements to the game.
Additionally, I would consider Square Enix as a top publisher, would you see any other major publisher take a gamble and release Supreme Commander 2, Hitman & Just Cause 2 for the pc?

haha oooh how they shouldnt of trolled me :D

i called that game 6 months before it was done.

no video before launch wouldnt show it even few weeks up until released. then i asked basic questions and mods changed my name on there forums

in any game if you get any shadyness or vagueness often a sign its the wrong people running the company or the games gunna be ****.

best company ive dealt with have been the guys that make thehunter now
Expansive Worlds . these will answer any question honestly not lie and actually ask what you want then do it :) they dont hide the mistakes they tell you about them.

not many games devs like this anymore which is a shame as i would be refreshing to have more like this

Worst would be EA

mainly for mp games. how they get away with releasing so many bugged mp games is unreal. any other industry product they would have been bankrupted for faulty products .

make pretty games that are broke should be there slogan :D

Mike Singleton - Lords of Midnight and Midwinter from waaaay back. That guy did things with procedural landscapes and AI in 64k that were just mind boggling.
