best ever console game... any format (and why?)

Another vote for FF7. Couldn't believe it when watsername kicked the bucket. I'd maxed the beatch out with weapons and materia as well! Did I have a previous save where I could get it back...nope!
 
was going to say Goldeneye but Perfect Dark takes the lead.

Why?

because it had so much more to do after completing it, Managed to Get gold in all the gun trials, time trials etc.

cant wait for the XBLA remake!
 
Both on the X360:

Dead Rising: Fantastic RPG/Zombie Killfest/Action Game. So much to do and see. Completeing it 5 times is the only way to fully explore and see everything. The way Capcom created the shopping mall is amazing and still IMO best 360 game to this day. Save system is designed to be very limited in order for you to use tactics & brainpower to stay alive. I even got the 7 day survivor achievement which meant surviving over 14 hours continous play without saving as its disabled :eek:

Fallout 3: One of the best games ever made. Huge playing area and so much to see and do. A good 150-175 hours worth of gameplay with the DLC and around 125 without.

I have very found memories of older games/consoles but TBH nowadays those games are very limited and dated so cannot consider them to be as good as they were back in the day!!
 
Goldeneye N64 - as others have said it's just brilliant.

We used to go round my mates house when his parents were away, set up "split screen TV" where we used cardboard and video tapes to divide the TV into 4 little screens so you couldn't see where the other person was, then play license to kill all night. Ah fond memories :)

I pulled the N64 out not so long ago, played License to kill pistols 1 on 1, the tension and game play is still brilliant, love it.

Same for me. It was my first final fantasy and any time I hear the final fantasy music it always take me back to when I was a young laddy.
Would get in from school and play it till bedtime. Me and all my mates all had it and would talk about it all the time. All competing for the first gold chocobo and knights of the round

Good memories :p
