best ever console game... any format (and why?)

Game was epic, a game without nudity, swearing, gore never could one game be that well made today. You could go fishing ffs, how tranquil is that. Imagine GTA 5 having a carp fishing contest!

.... on second thoughts, maybe not, but it was still a cool game, along with Alex Kidd.
 
A lot of games i have a lot of memories off, golden axe, streets of rage 1,2 and 3. Must say tho that Dynasty Warriors 2 was really addictive at its release on the ps2. Obviously only single player, multiplayer has to be halo 2. Great online .
 
Only owned an xbox and ps3, so. Before that I was a pc boy (not that I played many games until recently anyway)

Mass Effect, Dead Space, Batman: AA. Without a doubt my favourite games I have played since getting consoles.

Feel like I missed out on something never having had consoles before.
 
Hmmm difficult one as I can't think of one game that would stand head an shoulders above all the other games.

My choices would be:

Gran Turismo (PS1) - The first real in depth driving 'simulator' on any console.

Metal Gear Solid (PS1) - Gameplay, Graphics, Immersion, Story etc

Shenmue - This doesn't need explaining, a truely epic game.

Outsider - Driver (PS1) - Could be thought of as the grandad of all open world games.

i could pick it up now and play it all the way through, and in another years time do the same and so for the next 10+ years

the game came out in 1992 as you know :)
 
I loved Eternal Darkness made by Silicon Knights.

Probably the most engrossing story I've ever played through in a game and I loved the historical settings, the different playable characters, the cut scenes, the atmosphere, everything.
 
Has to be res evil for me on the ps, scared the hell out of me, the first time you encountered a zombie in that cutscene!

I loved the game and there was some great scary moments in it but I never got that feeling from the first zombie cut scene, for some reason it always reminded me of Richard O'Brien who I believe was on The Crystal Maze at the time.

I was quite young so anything would have scared me back then tbh!

Lol, now you mention it he does have a resemblence!

An epic game though!
 
fallout 3, by far the best game i have ever played the strangest thing is i never ever thought i would like it but once you get out in the wastes it's awesome, ive currently logged well over 600 hours running round the wastes killing things lol.

best played on the pc due to the 1000's of mods available for free:D:cool:, and the game of the year edition is out next week with all dlc for about £25 :D

but for all you pure FPS players out there the COD 4 is awesome for multi player and much better than COD WAW imo mainly due to the developer (infinity ward) and with MW2 out next month lets hope they can keep it up
 
Halo, after 8 yrs its still my favourite game of all time with spectacular
replayability and still feels as fresh today as it was when it was released.
