Best fighter in history, pound for pound!

It's a shame he has tried to adopt an orthodox approach to his boxing don't you reckon? I believe if he would have just stayed as he was he could have been one of the very best :(

No, it's not a shame at all IMHO, it's a neccessity. He tried using his normal style against Barrera and was simply out-boxed by a ring veteran. Naz has always been open and taken punches he didn't have to (Daniel Alicea, Kevin Kelly fights spring right to mind), but he relied on his huge punching power to win the fights. Against a proper boxer with a great defense like Barrera, that punching power was nullified. With a more orthodox approach Naz may have been able to break Marco down. He should definitely stay unpredictable, but he needs to improve his defense, and work more on breaking people down rather than a one punch knockout.

I don't think Naz has the ability to change his style that much, hence his reluctance to start fighting regularly, he was sussed out once and he knows it would probably happen again if he ever fought Barrera or Morales.

There are a few other boxers who are deserving of a mention here:

Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Jack Johnson, Sugar Ray Robinson, the list could go on and on.

As for Marciano beating Holmes, no way Jose. Marciano never faced anyone with Holmes' jab, once Holmes hit him square in the face with the first jab, he would have been a lot more hesitant and I would also think Holmes would have put him on the seat of him pants after that jab connected, he was far too canny for Marciano and would have stopped him in the mid/late rounds.

It would be a similar story if Holmes ever fought Tyson, the jab would have ruled the day, breaking Tyson's resolve, a la Lewis, and Holmes would have punched him out as well.

he did

but was at the 2 comeback of his career

in that fight he talked the talk but got hammered by Tyson

stupidest fight choosen ever by a former great

For me its Tyson at his `peek` you can only beat whats put in front of you, and he did (up till buster douglas anyway) there was not a boxer on the planet that could touch him!! when Custamato[sp] died it all when **** up....shame, could have been as big as Ali.

So me saying that do i think Ali was the best? hmm maybe as his challengers were a lot stronger imo than tyson`s! SO yep Ali the best! :)

I was also lucky enough to grow up watchin the GREAT middle wieghts Leonard, hagler ect and Leonard was a Great boxer (also my favorite) imo he is up there with the two mentioned!

Modern day boxers Roy Jones is Fantastic, no dout! as was Benn at his peek, when he went to Mike McCullums back yard and wooped his ass....sweet!

Great subject, i could go on all day....and still not have an answer (in my own mind anyway) but one of the above i think :o
